P.A. Parenteau has been released by the Detroit Red Wings following his PTO. Parenteau has traveled through six teams in the last six seasons. What’s the next destination for the 34-year-old winger? Right now probably nowhere but perhaps the Scottie Upshall stint in St. Louis does not work, that could be a possible destination. Even Pittsburgh could use Parenteau as a depth guy since their bottom six is shaky. Wherever Parenteau goes, it won’t be anywhere until some of these rookies who cracked NHL rosters get sent down.
Devils sign Jimmy Hayes to a one-way, one-year contract. Hayes played in Boston for the past two seasons and after collecting 5 points in 58 games last season Hayes was released in the summer. On his PTO with New Jersey, Hayes officially cracked the roster. The 27-year-old winger has played on three teams in a six-year career. Hayes will be a bottom six forward for New Jersey and it’s just another depth player for the Devils emerging offense.
