Knight In Golden Armour: James Neal scored his 3rd goal in 2 games with his OT winner for the Golden Knights as they defeated the Arizona Coyotes 2-1. Nate Schmidt also scored with 1 minute and 12 seconds remaining in the third to tie the game at 1-1 to send the game to OT. Fleury played outstanding again for the Knights making 27 saves on 28 shots. The Knights are 2-0-0 through 2 games. Not a bad start at all for the expansion franchise.
The Great 8: Alexander Ovechkin is back to his old ways scoring 7 goals in his first 2 games. He is the first player since 1917 to score a hat trick in the first two games of a season. Ovi led his team to a 6-1 victory over the Canadiens. Nathan Walker the Australian born winger scored in his NHL debut with a crowd of Aussie loving fans at the Capital One Center behind him. A nice moment before the game as the Caps let him take a lap by himself for his first NHL game. The Capitals had many questions coming into the season, but so far looking as strong as last season. This start could aid the Caps in obtaining another President’s Trophy for their efforts.
Henrik Lunqvist Struggles: Lunqvist played another weak game for the Rangers as they lost a barn-burner to the Maple Leafs 8-5. In his first game against Colorado he went 22-25, with a couple of goals going off of his glove. Lundqvist got pulled after just the first period against the Leafs, giving up 5 goals on only 17 shots. Through almost 80 minutes of game time he has a save percentage at .810 and does not look quite like himself. For the Rangers to be successful this season they need their King to pick up his game and steal games for them as the season goes on.
