New Jersey Devils vs Toronto Maple Leafs: 7:30 p.m.
New Jersey has started off on the right foot this season, seeing production from unlikely players like Jesper Bratt has helped its fair share. Nico Hischier looks to be the two way forward New Jersey was hoping for and Corey Schneider seems to be getting back to the old Schneider ways. But it will be no easy test for New Jersey tonight as they enter the Air Canada Centre to take on the red-hot Toronto Maple Leafs. The Devils will get to see their first real test of the season, the Leafs offense has got off to the best start in the last 100 years. With the powerful, explosive, versatile offense of Toronto and Frederick Anderson, the Leafs will make no mistake jumping on New Jersey early. Toronto, 5-2.
Boston Bruins vs Colorado Avalanche: 9:30 p.m.
The Bruins got blanked by Colorado on Monday, October 9 at home, now they travel to Colorado in the Av’s home opener. The fans of Colorado can be a little more excited early on although expectations are not high for this team, the Av’s are 2-1. Either way, it is a home opener the atmosphere is always a little different on these type of games but, could we see the Bruins spoil the Av’s home opener and take a win? With Patrice Bergeron and David Backes on the IR, the Bruins need to see some help from Tuukka Rask the Bruins defense. Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak have one goal apiece through two games, Bruins need to see offensive production from those two. But the Av’s first line of Yakupov-Duchene-Kerfoot seems to be clicking and causing some headaches for opposing defenses. If the Av’s can see Varlamov stand tall and this line produces yet again, then a win is in store, but I’m going with Bruins, 4-2.
New York Islanders vs Anaheim Ducks: 10:00 p.m.
The Islanders start their West Coast trip with the Anaheim Ducks, perhaps the Islanders can take advantage of the Ducks fragile and hurt blueline, but now with Ryan Getzlaf back in the lineup, Perry gets his old linemate back and Rickard Rakell gets to play back with his linemate Jakub Silfverberg. The Islanders blueline has faced their fair share of problems this season along with their goalie situation is a toss-up right now, as Jaroslav Halak is expected to start tonight. The Ducks match up well with the Islanders offense and it really comes down to shutting down the Isles top three guys. A West Coast trip is not an easy and a trip most teams struggle with. The Islanders will be traveling to San Jose and Los Angeles this week as well, for tonight I’d go Anaheim, 3-1.
Calgary Flames vs Los Angeles Kings: 10:00 p.m.
The two have started off on the right foot this season, the Flames have seen solid goaltending from Mike Smith as the Kings are ecstatic their rock Jonathan Quick is back. Mike Smith is confirmed for tonight and I would have to assume Quick will be in between the pipes. Anze Kopitar is just 10 goals away from tying his total for last season. The Kings have not seen production from Jeff Carter though, only logging 4 shots on net and one assist the Kings will need to see Carter step up big this game. The Flames have a ton of weapons on the offensive side of things and Jaromir Jagr will more than likely be suiting up for his first game this season. The Flames I seem to be leaning towards tonight, Flames 4-3.
