Fantasy Hockey Cheat Sheet Saturday, October 14. Fourteen NHL Games What To Do!

UH OH!! Yes, look at the NHL schedule tomorrow! Saturday features fourteen NHL games! You are screwed! Just kidding but on a night like this, there will be players you have to bench that are playing and there will be some tough roster decisions. Don’t worry I have you covered! We will go through each game and note why some players are worth a start/sit.

Devils @ Rangers: The Rangers have looked both good and bad, as the Devils have looked unbelievable, but they can still be a team to let up some goals. Obviously, some must starts are Ryan McDonagh, Kevin Shattenkirk, Mats Zuccarello and Mika Zibanejad and for the Devils honestly who knows they are seeing scoring from every direction. But Cory Schneider is a good start, Taylor Hall, Nico Hischier, Marcus Johansson, Jesper Bratt possibly even too.

Hurricanes @ Jets: I would not go with either goalie in this matchup, this can turn out to be an ugly one. The Hurricanes must start are Jeff Skinner and Justin Faulk other than that if you need to sit Victor Rask, Elias Lindholm, Noah Hanifin, etc so be it, but the Jets you cannot sit players like Patrik Laine, Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Nikolaj Ehlers and Dustin Byfuglien.

Maple Leafs @ Montreal: Easy starts in Mitch Marner, Matthews, Kadri, Nylander, Gardiner, Anderson for Montreal honestly go with Drouin, Pacioretty, and Price other than that you can easily sit Montreal’s other top six guys.

nikita-kucherovBlues @ Lightning: Now here I would just say Alex Pietrangelo, Vladimir Tarasenko and Brayden Schenn with the possibility of Jaden Schwartz but the Blues offense has looked really good, so this is a tough one. Still, don’t kill yourself over sitting some other players. The Lightning offense has been well balanced thus far, but you have to go with Kuchy, Stamkos, Palat, and Hedman with the possibility of Palat and Johnson if you really can start them then do it, if not then sit them down and have a long talk as to why they’re sitting.

Capitals @ Flyers: Obviously Ovechkin, man has eight goals already, honestly start his two linemates too, Nicklas Backstrom and you can stay away from that back end and sit Andre Burakovsky for this day. Flyers keep it simple they have three guys that get points, sit anyone on their backend, who cares. On the front end go, Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds everyone else you can run the risk of sitting they probably will have shots on goal that’s it.

Panthers @ Penguins: Yikes, tough one for the Panthers start Ekblad and Yandle if need be, go with Huberdeau upfront plus Trocheck and Barkov, but other than that Dadonov has not proved enough to be a starter on a night like this and the Panthers are also on the road vs the Penguins. For Pittsburgh easy of course, they have four forwards and two defenseman that starts no matter what. Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Guentzel, Schultz, Letang.

Avalanche @ Stars: Wow, this is tough because Yakupov-Duchene-Kerfoot look great but on a fourteen game night, I would not run the risk of starting them especially against the Stars and Ben Bishop. For Dallas easy their top three, Klingberg and Bishop. Top three meaning Benn-Seguin-Radulov of course.

Blue Jackets @ Wild: Another tough one, Sonny Milano has looked incredible, and the Blue Jackets forwards/defenseman have not been head over heels must starts right now. Same goes with the Wild but this game will have a playoff atmosphere and be a low scoring game more than likely so you could possibly sit a lot of these players this night. I’d really only start Foligno, Atkinson for Columbus and Suter, Coyle, Niederreiter for Minnesota. And I’d go with both goalies in this matchup as I’m expecting it to be a low scoring game.

Detroit Red Wings v Chicago Blackhawks

Predators @ Blackhawks: A nice playoff match up the Blackhawks want some revenge after being embarrassed by Nashville last season, no brainer go with Kane, Toews, Saad, Keith and if the room is there Panik and Hartman are solid starts. For Nashville, probably only Arvidsson, Forsberg and Johansen.

Bruins @ Coyotes: Sit any Coyote at this point they do not look great and nor do any of their forwards, they are easily replaceable guys who can be afforded a sit for a night. Bruins go with four guys maybe, Krug, Pastrnak, Marchand, possibly a long stretch here, Charlie McAvoy.

Flames @ Canucks: Again similar to the Coyotes, the Canucks have forwards that are good don’t get me wrong but on a fourteen game night some players need to hit the road and catch some pine. For Vancouver literally just Bo Horvat. For Calgary, Hamilton, Gaudreau, Monahan, and Smith are good starts.

Senators @ Oilers: Senators offense has not looked too hot as of late it may be smart to run the risk of sitting some top guns on their team if you are in a sticky situation, players like Hoffman, Stone and Turris may be a player you consider not starting and that is totally okay. Oilers, quite simple here, first obviously start McDavid, Draisaitl, Klefbom, Talbot but DO NOT start Maroon and Lucic.

Sabres @ Kings: Wow, this is an ugly game, where both teams may have all players on the bench in your line up, everyone expect four guys though, Jack Eichel, Evander Kane, Jonathan Quick and Anze Kopitar. There is just not enough room for some players on a night like this, and this is a no-brainer on teams where the offense is scarce, do not worry about not starting some players on either team.

Islanders @ Sharks: Martin Jones if in net may be a possible sit em, the Sharks look bad, the Islanders are coming off a tough loss vs Anaheim so they probably will be looking to fire on all cylinders. For the Sharks sit Joe Thornton please do not even question starting this guy on a fourteen game night. Sit everyone else on San Jose besides, Burns and Pavelski. For the Islanders, it’s tough because you never know where their offense will come from but safe bets are John Tavares and Jordan Eberle.
