The Philadelphia Flyers hosted the visiting Florida Panthers for game six of the 2017-’18 season, their second game at home coming off a commanding 8-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Saturday. It was a busy Tuesday night in the NHL with 22 teams in action, and the Flyers came into their contest with one of the hottest top-lines in the league. The Giroux-Couturier-Voracek line chipped in for ten points in the game against the Capitals Saturday, October 14, and the trio enjoyed much of the same success against Florida on Tuesday night.
The team exploded for four-second period goals on netminder Roberto Luongo after a tightly played first period, which saw the Panthers outshoot the Flyers 15-11.
Sean Couturier opened the scoring with his fourth of the year, assisted, by Giroux and Voracek, yet again. The captain also notched a goal of his own, that of which gave the Flyers a commanding 3-0 lead. Giroux and Shayne Gostisbehere both had a goal and an assist, the other tallies coming from Dale Weise and Valtteri Filppula, who quietly has four goals in six contests this season. Jamie McGinn scored the lone goal for Florida, which came in the last five minutes of the third period.
The Flyers host the defending Western Conference champion Nashville Predators Thursday night at 7 PM EST in Philadelphia.
