Live In The Stands NHL picks

JJ’S NHL PICKS OF THE NIGHT: FIVE LOCKS FOR THE DAY!

It’s a busy Saturday in the NHL and by the time this is posted the New York Rangers will be underway and so will the Flyers(Rangers, Oilers by the way), but after the manatee games there are ten other games on after that, you are out of your bird you think I’m covering all ten, but what I will do is give you FIVE GUARANTEEDĀ PICKS of the day, I picked six games last night and picked five winners, trust me. These five games are locks!

Los Angeles Kings(5-0-1) vs Columbus Blue Jackets(5-2-0)

Now the Kings are undefeated somehow, and it may be the biggest surprise thus far but going into the Nationwide arena after the Lightning blanked the Blue Jackets at home will not be a favorable matchup for the Kings to keep their undefeatedĀ streak going. Plus with a hurt, Jeff Carter out of the line up the Kings are missing a top forward on their team. Jonathan Quick has been lights out but the Blue Jackets are skilled all throughout the forward end and if we match goalie vs goalie, offense vs offense and defense vs defense, I like the Jackets here tonight. Columbus, 4-2.

Florida Panthers(2-4-0) vs Washington Capitals(4-3-1)

The Capitals are coming off an overtime win last night vs Detroit as the Panthers are coming off a loss vs the Penguins. The Capitals will give back up Philp Grabauer the start last time he started he let in eight goals and I can assure you that will not happen again tonight. Plus James Reimer is in tonight as Roberto Luongo appeared to be hurt after last nights game with a hand injury. For this instance, a cold Reimer vs a hot Washington offense seems to be a no-brainer situation. Washington’s offense has been clicking and their power play is an Ovechkin firing range if they get the power play chances like last night then this team will have an easy win. Washington, 4-3.

Carolina Hurricanes(3-1-1) vs Dallas Stars(4-3-0)

Carolina has started off well, but so has Ben Bishop and they will be facing a hot goaltender in Ben Bishop and a strong Dallas offense that has yet to break out for a big game. I am usually in favor of Carolina but the Stars have to get some consistency going and Tyler Seguin-Jamie Benn-Alexander Radulov line will be firing tonight. The Hurricanes have not seen the production they would like form Jeff Skinner, Sebastian Aho and or Victor Rask, these three are due and in a game like this where both teams want to prove their worth, it will be a test of the top six. Dallas, 3-2.

Minnesota Wild(1-2-2) vs Calgary Flames(4-3-0)

The Wild have to stop the bleeding, but again againstĀ another young high powered offensive team, they will not be a favorite here tonight. The Wild’s top goal scorer and point producer right now is Chris Stewart(7) since suffering the injuries of their top three guys no one has managed to step up. The Wild need the defense and Devan Dubynk to lead the way but against a hot Johnny Gaudreau and Calgary defense, this will be another loss for Minnesota. Flames, 4-3.

St. Louis Blues(6-2-0) vs Vegas Golden Knights(5-1-0)

Two top teams in their division right now and the Vegas home yet again will display another livid Vegas crowd. The Blues have been off to a great start despite some injuries as have the Golden Knights. This is a tough game and the last game of the night. The Blues offense has looked solid and with Alexander Steen back they have an even more well-balanced lineup. But Vegas offensive production seems to be coming from all over, but with Marc Andre Fleury out and Malcolm Subban the likely starter, I like the Blues ability to expose and pick apart Subban in just his fifth NHL start. Blues, 3-2.
