Dolphins Send Jay Ajayi to Philadelphia for 4th Round Pick.

As the trade deadline approaches at 4 pm Tuesday evening, teams are scrambling to make a deal. On a day that’s historically overhyped, there has actually been a couple of interesting trades so far. One of the more questionable trades today has been the Eagles and Dolphins exchanging Pro Bowl RB Jay Ajayi for a 2018 4th round draft pick. Many fans are confused and asking themselves one question: why would either team do that?

Philadelphia is currently the fourth ranked team in rushing yards this season and clearly they didn’t need Ajayi but it never hurts to add talent to an already contending team. Especially when you get a pro-bowler for only a fourth round pick. The Eagles absolutely robbed the Dolphins.

What does this trade mean for the Dolphins?

By making this trade, the Dolphins are waiving the white flag and giving up on the season. With Tannehill out for the year and Cutler hurt, Matt Moore is the only option and after not putting up any points against the Ravens, Miami knew it was time to give up. There are even rumors circulating that Jarvis Landry could be the next dealt.

What does it mean for the Eagles?

The Eagles look to be committed to making a Super Bowl run with adding more talent in Ajayi. He’ll join a solid backfield with LeGarrette Blount and Wendell Smallwood (both will be seeing much limited time now).

Who won the trade?

I don’t even think it’s a question. The Eagles stole Ajayi. Like many fans, I was shocked when I saw what the Dolphins got in exchange for the pro-bowler. Philly takes the W in this one.
