After being able to boast one of the more dominant first lines in hockey for the beginning part of this young season, the lack of depth up front for the the Philadelphia Flyers May begin to become a concern for the team. Again, the first line showed up last night against the Arizona Coyotes, but didn’t get much support from the rest of the forwards, outside of Jordan Weal’s second goal of the season.
And because of this, Philadelphia handed Arizona their first win of the 2017-18 season last night despite an impressive third period comeback, in a 4-3 OT loss in Philly. Down 3-0 in the third period, two goals by Sean Couturier, one in the last minute of play, and one from Weal forced the game into overtime. In the last minute of overtime, however, Alex Goligoski fired home a one timer from a weak angle to end the contest.
Martinook, Dvorak, and Perlini scored the other goals for Arizona.
The Flyers are back in action Wednesday in Chicago against the Blackhawks.
