NHL PICKS OF THE NIGHT: October 30, 2017

Vegas Golden Knights(8-2-0) vs New York Rangers(3-7-2)

Well, Vegas is onto their fourth goalie now after Oscar Dansk left last night’s game vs the Islanders. After Dansk left the Golden Knights fell apart and let in three straight goals to drop their first of six road games upcoming. The Rangers are facing one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now but on the bright side, they will be with a fourth-string goaltender, which means the Rangers have no excuses coming into this game. After getting shelled against the Canadiens the Rangers need to start seeing some success or they will find themselves looking in from the outside come April. With a healthy Rangers lineup and a fourth-string goaltender, all signs are pointing to New York tonight. Rangers, 4-2.

Arizona Coyotes(1-10-1) vs Detroit Red Wings(5-6-1)

That is correct, your eyes are not lying to you, Arizona has officially picked up a win and got the monkey off their back. Although they did win, they did look sloppy in the third and their biggest problem has been holding leads and closing games out. The Coyotes let up two goals within 35 seconds, that were short-handed a matter of fact. They still picked up a win but not in the easiest way. Another thing to consider before you think about choosing Arizona because they finally won and think they will string a few wins together, take into consideration Arizona is going back-to-back and they had to travel from Philadelphia to Detroit. Tired legs, a cold goalie vs an explosive Detroit team, all faith is in Detroit tonight. Red Wings, 3-1.

Winnipeg Jets(5-3-2) vs Minnesota Wild(4-3-2)

The good news is that Minnesota got Mikael Granlund back but the bad news is that the Jets erupted for seven goals vs Pittsburgh the other night and Patrik Laine nor Nikolaj Ehlers were involved in the goal scoring. Expect a big game from the two and another Jet’s win. The Jets needed that break out win to get the juices flowing and some confidence. Minnesota is still a highly competitive team but without two of their top six forwards, it is difficult to re-coop from. As goal scoring has been an issue for Minnesota and we know why. Hopefully Devan Dubnyk stands on his head, unfortunately, it won’t be easy. Jets, 4-2.
