EASTERN CONFERENCE NHL PICKS OF THE NIGHT

New York Rangers(4-7-2) vs Tampa Bay Lightning(10-2-1)

The Lightning are the best team in the NHL right now, have two of the three top point leaders in the league and Andrei Vasalievskiy has ten wins already, to think the Rangers a team that has not been able to string together a 30-minute effort all season can go into Tampa Bay and knock off one of the best teams right now is absurd. Not that it cannot happen but if I were you and wanted to play safe then Tampa Bay is your best look tonight.

Vegas Golden Knights(8-3-0) vs Boston Bruins(4-3-3)

As beat up as the Bruins are, Vegas still has Maxime Legace in net and that right there is the sole reason Vegas will start to hit a skid if they do not get one of their three injured goalies back. *Cue the sad violin music* Tonight, is a night where Boston gets their feet under them and see some production from David Pasternak and Brad Marchand who quite frankly have been quite all year. On the plus side though Vegas is finding ways to score goals, therefore I would look for this game to have two outcomes a shutout by Tuukka Rask or a 5-4 game. I still think Boston has the defensive depth and a few forwards to get the job done against Vegas. Also, Vegas has already dropped two games of their six-game road trip. Worst case scenario this team drops four of six on this road trip. Boston, 2-0.

New York Islanders(7-4-1) vs Washington Capitals(5-6-1)

This game always has a playoff atmosphere, and with some line juggling on the Capitals end, we will see Devante Smith Pelly paired with Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov, which should be interesting. The Islanders streaky forwards will look to continue their success. John Tavares, Josh Bailey, and Brock Nelson have been on a mission to start this season but with the Capitals forwards this game has all the signs to be a scoring frenzy. I would not rely on either goaltender to stand tall here tonight. This is probably one of the more difficult choices of the night but I like the Capitals at home their success vs New York has been quite well in years past. Capitals, 4-3.

Detroit Red Wings(6-6-1) vs Ottawa Senators(5-2-5)

Ottawa is coming off of two tough losses, an overtime loss vs New Jersey and a blow out loss vs Montreal, another loss could be steering this team in the wrong direction. Personally, I feel a good game from Erik Karlsson and Mark Stone. We have not heard much about Karlsson in terms of points or big plays, tonight that is coming. Detroit has officially cooled off and came back down to earth, just like we all assumed. The Detroit woes will continue with a loss vs Ottawa tonight. On the bright side, Anthony Mantha has ended his October pretty well, with five goals and five assists. Ottawa, 4-2.

Columbus Blue Jackets(8-4-0) vs Florida Panthers(4-6-1)

Columbus I feel as if they are a heavy favorite tonight and many are looking to take them as a sure pick, but for some odd reason, my gut tells me Florida will come out with it tonight. I could be wrong, my gut sometimes is not always right but Florida has seen some solid production in Evegny Dadonov, Vincent Trocheck, Jonathan Huberdeau and their top six, they have a solid four defenseman and if the goaltending comes up big tonight, I could see Florida pulling away with it. This one I’m leaving in your hands, I think you see what direction I am going.

Buffalo Sabres(3-7-2) vs Arizona Coyotes(1-11-1)

Wow, what a time slot and what a game we have here tonight a battle of the basement. These two teams have a roster filled with talent but have yet to capitalize on any games this season, they have either got blown out or barely lost. Tonight is a perfect game to see both Jack Eichel and Evander Kane have a game, Eichel has not had himself any outstanding games this season and a multi-goal game could get the young forward some confidence and this Buffalo team heading in the right direction. Arizona is well, Arizona but that could be said about Buffalo as well. I’m really banking on Eichel to have a day, let’s hope it happens. Buffalo, 4-3.
