Washington Capitals(8-6-1) vs Buffalo Sabres(4-8-2)

Tuesday game of the night, as Washington gets ready for back to back and long travel early this morning. The Capitals are doing better than most believed to be doing at this point, well me at least. Although they barely beat the worst team in hockey, Arizona last night they face the other worst team in hockey now tonight. Buffalo, I really am at a lost for words, I just do not know how to assess this team anymore. Their biggest concern needs to be defense though. Which is a reason this team will struggle, as they are ranked third in goals against, vs the Capitals who average three goals a game. Easy choice tonight, as Buffalo has won one game at home this season. Capitals, 4-1.

St. Louis Blues(11-3-1) vs New Jersey Devils(9-3-1)

The Devils have yet to record their 10th win of the year and have dropped their last two games. The most concerning aspect of the Devils for me right now is the production of Brian Gibbons, the fact he leads the team in goals is alarming, when his production slows(which it will), the Devils need someone else to do the scoring. But this is a battle between two top teams in the NHL right now, the Blues have stormed out the gate and have worked their way into early(VERY) Stanley Cup talk, while the Devils are trying to stay afloat as a top NHL team. Blues, 3-2(SO).

Edmonton Oilers(4-8-1) vs New York Islanders(8-5-1)

The Islanders seem to have everything figured out on the front end, Josh Bailey is firing away, Matthew Barzal is off to a nice start and other key factors are stepping up as well. Where for the Oilers no one on this team has played well, including Connor McDavid. Leon Drastali when healthy has not been great, Cam Talbot has been abysmal and the Oilers are dying to find any answers. I’m not sure if a hot team vs New York is the time for the Oilers to resurge their year, and looking at their schedule playing the tri-state area teams this team will struggle a ton. Islanders, 3-2.

Florida Panthers(4-7-2) vs Carolina Hurricanes(4-5-3)

Florida is a team that continues to disappoint, in my eyes at least but they did face a setback with Roberto Luongo going down with an injury, but he is back now and they have their faithful number, one goalie, back. The only concern for Florida is holding onto games and closing them out, they are a team with a solid top six and three good defenseman but have struggled to win games. Where Carolina is the same way expect offensive production from Jeff Skinner, Sebastian Aho has not been there all year. I like the Hurricanes but with Luongo against the Hurricanes could be a potential big win for the old netminder. Panthers, 3-2.

Vegas Golden Knights(9-4-1) vs Montreal Canadiens(6-8-1)

Vegas is 1-3-1 on their road trip and they now face a Montreal team that has won four of their last five games and now Vegas is coming in versus another hot team. The Golden Knights are looking at a possible loss, never having played in Montreal the atmosphere will be different for the young team. With the way, Montreal has played they should have no problem vs Vegas. It will be a battle of back up goaltenders and Maxime Legace takes on Charlie Lindgren, Vegas has shown signs of offensive explosiveness as Montreal has too in recent games. This will be a close game and will come down to the wire. Montreal, 3-2.
