Florida Panthers(4-8-2) vs Buffalo Sabres(5-8-2)
(Full Look: Florida +100 vs Buffalo -120, over/under 5.5)
(Starters: Roberto Luongo vs Robin Lehner. NOTE: Both goalies have not been confirmed but these two are number on the depth chart)
This will be the first of four meetings between these two teams, both of them are in the basement of the Eastern Conference and their respected divisions. Ultimately, we expected more from each team, Buffalo, and Florida both struggle with the same things, closing out games and getting the necessary forward production from their top six. Outside of Vincent Trocheck, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Alexsander Barkov, no one on the Panthers has chipped in, same goes for Buffalo aside from Jack Eichel, Evander Kane and James Pominville the Sabres top six has been silent. This will be a close game in my opinion and a game I would expect Buffalo to come away but who knows be very wary of this game. Buffalo, 4-3.
Boston Bruins(6-5-3) vs Toronto Maple Leafs(10-7-0)
(Full Look: Boston +130 vs Toronto -150, over/under 6)
(Starters: Anton Khubodin(likely) vs Toronto goalie not released yet)
The Leafs have finally reached the 10-win mark and their last win came off a thrilling performance by some much-needed players like Connor Brown, Nazem Kadri and Patrick Marleau and those three will need to do it again as Auston Matthews is expected to be OUT again tonight. This original six matchup will be featured on NESN at 7 p.m. The Bruins are coming off a tough loss vs New York, and stay on the road with a trip to the Air Canada Centre. The Leafs have won six games of their nine home games this year. The odd thing about this game is that Toronto is home tonight than they go back to Boston the next day to face off at the TD Garden arena vs the Bruins again. Weird scheduling which may factor into this game. Look for both back up goaltenders to go tonight or tomorrow, it seems Anton Knodbudin is in tonight which will win Tuukka Rask tomorrow, also appears with back to back games Matthews will be out again. Anyways staying in this game, I think Toronto’s home success will continue with a 3-2 win tonight.
Pittsburgh Penguins(9-6-2) vs Washington Capitals(8-7-1)
(Full Look: Pittsburgh +105 vs Washington -125, over/under: 6)
(Starters Matt Murray vs Braden Holtby, not confirmed but likely)
These two faced off almost a month ago which resulted in the Penguins winning 3-2, the second of four meetings comes tonight on NHL Network. The turmoil between these two teams is known and when these two meet, both teams top players come to play. We can expect to see Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel on full display along with Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Nicolas Backstrom. A game that looks to be like a high scoring game will more than likely result in a 2-1 final. And tonight I am going Washington, 2-1.
New York Islanders(8-5-2) vs Dallas Stars(8-7-0)
(Full Look: New York +115 vs Dallas -130, over/under 6)
(Starters: Ben Bishop vs Jaraslov Halak(not confirmed)
The Islanders offense has been a thing to watch recently, and many Islander fans are not chanting the infamous Josh Bailey chant no more. Rookie sensation Matthew Barzal has electrified this offense while Joh Tavares continues to stay afloat in the goal scoring race right now. The Stars have not lived up to expectations, well at least not that first line of Radulov-Benn-Seguin, the three have combined for 43 points on the year. If the Stars want to get a win, performances from that line need to be a must and Jason Spezza as well Ben Bishop need to step up. I like the Islanders here tonight, their offensive production has been consistent and that will stray true tonight. Islanders, 4-3.
Winnipeg Jets(8-3-3) vs Vegas Golden Knights(9-5-1)
(Full Look: Winnipeg – 145 vs Vegas +125, over/under: 6)
(Starters: Connor Hellebycuk vs Maxime Legace)
The Golden Knights return back home after their six-game road trip where they collected just three points. But the outcome of their road trip was not indecitve of the result, they did outshoot four of the six teams they played. And it won’t get much easier facing off against a hot Jets team and firey Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele. Along with a stellar performance in Conor Hellebyuck, who is 8-0-2 to start the season. If Vegas wants to get a win tonight, I think we can expect James Neal to step up and get back in the goal column, but Jets are hot right now and their offensive depth is remarkable. Jets, 3-2.
