NFL Power Rankings; Eagles Stay On Top, Bills Fall

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (9-1)

Last weeks ranking- 1

It’s hard to not have the Eagles at #1. Although their schedule has been extremely weak and they’ve only beat two teams with a winning record, they keep winning and have the league’s best record. They’ll face some challenges in the coming weeks playing the Rams and the Seahawks.

  1. New England Patriots (8-2)

Last weeks ranking- 2

The Patriots are back. I know they never really left, but they always struggle in the beginning of the season and fans always worry that the Brady-Belichick era is coming to an end but in reality, it’ll probably never end.

  1. Minnesota Vikings (8-2)

Last weeks ranking- 5

In case nobody thought so before, the Vikings are for real. They dominated a really good Rams team with ease and they show no signs of weakness anywhere. Case Keenum is playing great, along with Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs and that stellar defense.

  1. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-2)

Last weeks ranking- 6

The Steelers are another team that started slow but has picked up steam along the way. They absolutely dominated a solid Titans team and had huge games from Big Ben and Antonio Brown. I fully expect the Steelers to make a long playoff run and challenge the Patriots for the top team in the AFC.

  1. New Orleans Saints (8-2)

Last weeks ranking- 3

Even though the Saints drop two spots in the rankings, they’re still a force in this league that should be feared. New Orleans stole this game from the Redskins, coming back from a 15-point deficit in the last three minutes of the game and winning in overtime. I’m not taking anything away from this amazing comeback, but I think the Redskins lost this game instead of the Saints winning it.

  1. Los Angeles Rams (7-3)

Last weeks ranking- 4

The Rams finally came back down to Earth against the Vikings and only scored seven points this week. Fans shouldn’t worry because all teams usually have weeks like this, especially against other top teams. LA should be fine and still win the NFC West or at least a Wild Card spot.

  1. Carolina Panthers (7-3)

Last weeks ranking- 8

The Panthers were on a bye this week but move up a spot in the power rankings one spot. They take on the Jets next week in the Meadowlands.

  1. Atlanta Falcons (6-4)

Last weeks ranking- 9

The Falcons won a close one against the Seahawks in Seattle, winning on a missed potential game-tying field goal as time expired. Although it was a close game, the Falcons are headed in the right direction. Devonta Freeman is expected back as they take on the Buccaneers in week 12.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars (7-3)

Last weeks ranking- 12

The Jaguars have the best defense in the NFL and you better believe it. Even though they played the Browns, it’s tough for any team in the league to put up points against Jalen Ramsey and Co. If the Jags want to make a playoff run, they’ll have to do something about the lacking offense.

  1. Detroit Lions (6-4)

Last weeks ranking- 11

The Lions won a close one against their division rival Bears. Like I said last week, as long as Stafford is taking snaps, the Lions should be fine. I see them taking one of the NFC’s Wild Card spots as long as everyone stays healthy.

  1. Seattle Seahawks (6-4)

Last weeks ranking- 10

I don’t really know why the Seahawks signed Blair Walsh, the dude just isn’t good. Unfortunately for Seattle, he potentially cost them the game with his missed field goal. All in all, a kicker doesn’t define a team, and the Seahawks could have won the game if they played better defense. The Seahawks are just another team to fall victim to the injury bug.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (6-4)

Last weeks ranking- 7

The Chiefs have been terrible over the last six weeks. They’ve lost four out of their last five games and were just embarrassed losing to the then one-win New York Giants. This is definitely the low point for KC this season but they have too much talent and good coaching to let the season slip away. They should still win the AFC West due to the severe lack of competition.

  1. Tennessee Titans (6-4)

Last weeks ranking- 14

It really shows the lack of good teams in the league when a team that got obliterated moves up a spot in the power rankings. Don’t get me wrong, the Titans are still a good team and they’ll most likely earn a playoff spot, but the divide in the NFL between good and bad teams is pretty surprising.

  1. Dallas Cowboys (5-5)

Last weeks ranking- 13

The Cowboys hung in there a bit against the Eagles but completely lost it in the second half. Dak Prescott had his worst game in his career, but I think it’s just a fluke for him. The rest of the team needs to show up before they fall too far out of the race.

  1. Baltimore Ravens (5-5)

Last weeks ranking- 18

The Ravens took full advantage of a backup quarterback against the Packers and put up a decent amount of points (24) in Green Bay. The big win allowed them to stay in the playoff race.

  1. Los Angeles Chargers (4-6)

Last weeks ranking- 19

The Chargers absolutely destroyed the crumbling Bills. It probably helped that Nathan Peterman threw five interceptions in the first half. Regardless, the Chargers took advantage of the opportunity and easily won the game.

  1. Washington Redskins (4-6)

Last weeks ranking- 15

*Reggie Miller choking gif plays* …. The Redskins completely choked against the Saints and blew a 15-point lead with three minutes to go in the game. I’ve been saying this since he started playing, Kirk Cousins can’t win big games. I’m not blaming the loss all on Cousins, the defense was atrocious too.

  1. Houston Texans (4-6)

Last weeks ranking- 25

The Texans take a big leap in the rankings this week jumping up seven spots. They pulled out a nice win against an equal matchup in the Cardinals. Unfortunately I don’t think the Texans will get much higher this season due to all of their injuries.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals (4-6)

Last weeks ranking- 28

Similar to the Texans, the Bengals move up in the rankings nine spots. I’ve been tough on Cincinnati this season because I thought they’ve been the most lackluster team in the league, but they seem to have found a small rhythm by beating the Broncos in a close game.

  1. Oakland Raiders (4-6)

Last weeks ranking- 17

What did anyone expect from the Raiders taking on the Patriots? Oakland is a below average team that can beat up on the bad teams, but nothing more.

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6)

Last weeks ranking- 26

After a slow start, the Bucs are finally picking it up a little. However, it’s a little too late for Tampa and I don’t see them amounting to anything in the NFC.

  1. New York Jets (4-6)

Last weeks ranking- 21

The Jets had a bye this week and they’ll take on the Panthers at home on Sunday. Looks like a loss, but who knows anymore these days.

  1. Arizona Cardinals (4-6)

Last weeks ranking- 23

The Cardinals lost to the injury riddled Texans, but it wasn’t a lost effort. Blaine Gabbert, the Cardinals third-string QB played decent but it just wasn’t enough. Arizona’s playoff hopes look dim.

  1. Buffalo Bills (5-5)

Last weeks ranking- 16

What are the Bills doing?? Whoever had the idea to bench Tyrod Taylor for Nathan Peterman should be fired. Straight disrespect… The Bills are a disaster right now and are falling out of the AFC playoff race.

  1. Miami Dolphins (4-6)

Last weeks ranking- 24

After Jay Cutler was out of the game, they actually played like a decent team. Matt Moore played very well, and will probably be the starter moving forward.

  1. Chicago Bears (3-7)

Last weeks ranking- 23

The Bears played competitively against a good Lions team and could have won the game in overtime if the didn’t botch the potential game-tying field goal as time expired.

  1. Green Bay Packers (5-5)

Last weeks ranking- 20

The Packers looked awful against an average Ravens team and got shut out 24-0. Brett Hundley has been awful and has only thrown for one touchdown in the last eighteen quarters.

  1. Indianapolis Colts (3-7)

Last weeks ranking- 29

The Colts had a bye but move up a spot in the rankings because the Broncos lost AGAIN.

  1. Denver Broncos (3-7)

Last weeks ranking- 27

Yes, the Broncos lost another game and are slowly becoming another laughing stock of the NFL. They’ve lost six straight but hey, at least they did something about it and fired the offensive coordinator.

  1. New York Giants (2-8)

Last weeks ranking- 31

The Giants defense actually played like it was supposed to for once, holding Kansas City to only nine points. The offense is still atrocious and the Giants can still compete for a top three draft pick.

  1. San Francisco 49ers (1-9)

Last weeks ranking- 30

The Niners had a bye this week and will play their divisional rival Seahawks on Sunday.

  1. Cleveland Browns (0-10)

Last weeks ranking- 32

Oh Cleveland, at least you have the Cavs and Indians.
