Fantasy Hockey Draft Day Advice

FREE NHL Picks: December 5, 2017

New York Rangers(14-10-2) vs Pittsburgh Penguins(15-10-3)

The game of the night displayed on NBCSN, one of the better rivalries in hockey and two teams that definitely do not like each other. One pivotal point to the Rangers line up is that Mika Zibanejad will be out, this hurts the Rangers tremendously as they already lack center depth. The Penguins Phil Kessel’s 33 points on the season, along with Sidney Crosby’s 6 goals, 7 assists in the last two weeks will leave the Rangers defense with a handful of problems. The Penguins are 6-3-1 in their last ten currently tied for a wild-card spot and three points ahead of the Rangers. The Rangers Henrik Lundqvist will need to step up and perform on a big stage tonight. Lundqvist is posting 4 wins, 2.06 goals against, and .935 save percentage in the last two weeks. The Rangers currently are 7-3-0 in their last ten, outside of the playoff picture. Tonight will be a battle, Pittsburgh took the first one in overtime, but tonight that can change. I am totally unsure about this game. Pittsburgh?

New Jersey Devils(15-7-4) vs Columbus Blue Jackets(17-9-1)

Both are coming off a tough loss, the Devils got blanked by the worst team in hockey the other night and the Blue Jackets dropped to the Capitals. Two teams looking to get back in the win column again. The Devils have shown a lot of offensive depth this season, and now with the addition of Sami Vatanen, their blue line gets a needed improvement. In the last ten, the Devils are 5-3-2 and posting a 9-3-2 road record this season. The Blue Jackets have seen great production from young forwards like Josh Anderson and Pierre-Luc Dubois, a deep team all around and a playoff contender for sure. The Jackets are 8-2-0 in their last ten and posting a 10-4-0 home record. I like Columbus at home, going Columbus.

Winnipeg Jets(17-6-4) vs Detroit Red Wings(10-12-5)

The Red Wings were just absolutely embarrassed the other night losing 10-1 to Montreal. It will be tough to bounce back from that game against one of the leagues best Winnipeg Jets tonight. The Jets have been on fire lately and their weapons on offense have a lot to do with that, plus their power play is one of the best in the league right now, this team has shown no signs of slowing down. In their last ten they are 7-2-1, and 7-4-3 on the road. While Detroit is 2-4-4 in their last ten with a 4-5-4 home record. Jets are not losing this game, no way. Jets tonight 100 percent.

Buffalo Sabres(6-17-4) vs Colorado Avalanche(12-11-2)

The Sabres have officially given up for the season it seems, they have waived Matt Moulson, and are currently hearing trade offers for just about everyone. A very fragile team right now that will not get back on track. I like Colorado’s resiliency this season and their ability to compete in every game, a young group of players looking to make some noise has paid off for the Avs. The Avalanche are 4-5-1 in their last ten and 8-4-1 at home this season, while Buffalo is 1-8-1 in their last ten and 3-8-3 on the road. Going Avalanche for sure tonight.

Carolina Hurricanes(11-9-5) vs Vancouver Canucks(13-10-4)

This is going to be a better matchup than most are perceiving it be, two very young teams that have a lot to prove and show. The Hurricanes have a ton of forward weapons but unfortunately, not everyone is clicking at the same time right now. While the Canucks have future Calder winner Brock Boeser firing from all angles right now, mix in Bo Horvat, Loui Eriksson’s hot streak and the Sedin brothers this team has been a lot better than we thought. The Canucks are in the second wild-card spot, just a point ahead of Minnesota, and in their last ten, they are 5-3-2, while posting a 4-5-3 home record. The Hurricanes are 5-4-1 in their last ten posting a 5-5-2 away record. Two teams that struggle in their current situations. Either way, this will make for a good game. I like the Hurricanes here tonight though.

Other games on tonight

Blues vs Canadiens: Sheesh, Montreal has been on fire, I’m riding the hot hand.

Islanders vs Lightning: Lightning has been great at home but not so great in their last ten. Still going Tampa Bay.

Predators vs Stars: Predators

Ducks vs Golden Knights: Ducks

Wild vs Kings: Kings
