New York Rangers(19-12-3) vs New Jersey Devils(19-9-5)
These two met earlier last month and it resulted in a 5-2 Rangers win, expect this team the Rangers travel to Newark. The Devils have looked to be a very solid team this season, seeing production from important depth forwards, as well production from their players. The Devils have in a sense slowed down compared to what they were doing earlier in the year, but still with a strong goaltender in net, and extremely deep forward group the Devils look to be in the mix all season. The Metropolitan is tight though, and tonight’s matchup could not come at a worse time for both teams. The Devils are separated by just two points, and two spots from the Rangers, essentially meaning a Rangers win ties them for the lead of the Metropolitan, and a Devils win propels them to the first. Luckily the Rangers have Mika Zibanejad back, and four lines that have been scoring efficiently over the last couple of games. The Rangers have certainly played better, and not so poor defensively and the team faces another big test tonight vs New Jersey. In the last ten, the Rangers are 6-3-1 and post a 5-7-0 away record. The Devils are 5-4-1 in their last ten and post a 9-5-2 home record. Tonight I am going Rangers.
Winnipeg Jets(20-10-5) vs Boston Bruins(17-10-5)
This is a tough one, wow. The Bruins have been red-hot over the last two weeks, and come into tonight on a two-game winning streak as the Jets come into tonight off a tough loss vs Nashville Tuesday night. The Bruins started the year off slow, due to some injuries and poor play from Tuukka Rask, they were not as successful. Well, after getting Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, David Backes, Torey Krug back the Bruins have been flying high. Over the last ten games, the Bruins are 7-2-1 and post a 10-5-3 home record. The Jets are a top team in the NHL, with one of the best power plays(both units), deepest offense, a solid goaltender right now a team that can surely bury the puck and any team in the NHL. Over the last ten, the Jets are 5-4-1, with an 8-7-4 away record. Both teams are coming from a days rest and will probably see both their starters, the Jets are without Dustin Byfuglien still and the Bruins have no major injuries to be reported. The Bruins young guns like Charlie McAvoy, Danton Heinen, Jake DeBrusk have been solid key pieces to the Bruins success this season. This is a challenge for these young guns vs a top team. The Jets are 3-3 vs Metropolitan teams and the Bruins are 2-3 vs Central division teams, this a tough one folks but I’m going Jets.
Anaheim Ducks(14-13-8) vs New York Islanders(18-13-3)
Islanders get a new bid to Belmont, moving back to Long Island, we can expect an extremely livid crowd tonight in Brooklyn, a team that is beyond happy. The Ducks road trip has been tough on the squad, dropping all three games thus far and now having to finish off with the Islanders and Penguins. The Ducks drop all five road games it definitely puts them in a tough position, and it will not come easy, as the Islanders let a game slide through their fingers, Tuesday night vs Detroit. Since getting back most of their roster and injured players the Ducks have not played great, and the road trip definitely does not help. The Ducks are 3-3-4 in their last ten with a 6-6-5 away record. The Islanders offense has been so explosive one of the best offenses in the league but their defense and goaltending struggle a ton, with the news of Calvin De Haan going down for the season(potentially) the Islanders are relying on their youth to step up. The Islanders score the second most goals in the NHL but also allow the second most goals against. This team will have to again rely on scoring four-plus goals to get a win, the Ducks went back to back and now have a days rest, and will surely come out flying to hopefully collect some points on this trip. The Islanders do not want to drop anymore should win games as the Metro tightens up. The Islanders are 3-6-1 in their last ten and post a 10-3-2 home record. The Ducks are 4-4 vs Metropolitan teams and beat the Islanders early in the season(Oct. 11). The Islanders are 4-3 vs Pacific division teams. Tonight I am going, Islanders.
Carolina Hurricanes(14-12-7) vs Nashville Predators(21-8-4)
Things just do not get easier for the Hurricanes as they got shelled vs Toronto Tuesday night they now have to face one of the best home teams and team in the NHL now. The Predators have been rolling since the addition of Kyle Turris, and players like Kevin Fiala and Craig Smith have excelled immensely since accompanying Turris on the wings. The Predators are atop the NHL right now and should for sure win this game, last time this two played the Hurricanes came out on top in a shootout win, this the final of two meetings between the two and I’m sure the Predators would not want to drop another game to the Hurricanes. Over the last ten, the Preds are 7-2-1 with an 11-3-2 home record, as the Hurricanes are 4-4-2 with a 7-8-4 away record. The Hurricanes have not seen the production they hoped for from some key top six forwards, as well Scott Darling has not been the starter they hoped for either, a lot of growing pains for this team but a team with a ton of talent. The Hurricanes are 3-5 vs Central division teams as the Predators are 6-4 vs Metropolitan division teams. Tonight I am going, Predators.
St. Louis Blues(22-12-2) vs Edmonton Oilers(15-17-2)
Things are just not going right for the Blues, after losing Schwartz this team has not been able to score goals and have dropped four of the last six games. The Blues are struggling right now and after dropping one to the Flames last night they go back to back now with a hot Cam Talbot in net and a hungry Edmonton team. The Oilers started out on the right side of the pendulum this season, but have slowly worked their way up in the standings as they are now 7 points out of a wild-card spot, therefore every game matters right now. Cam Talbot since coming back from his poor start and injury, over the last two weeks has collected two wins, allowed five goals, 2.50 GAA and .904 save percentage. The Oilers need these two points but so do the Blues as they need to get back in the win column. But a back to back vs a hungry Edmonton team, I can’t see a Blues win. These two have met two times already this season and both resulted in a Blues win, one coming exactly a month ago where the Blues shell-shacked the Oilers 8-3. That win has to burn the Oilers and live with them into tonight. I’m going Edmonton.
Other games on tonight
