Chicago Blackhawks(18-14-6) vs New York Rangers(21-13-5): An original six matchup that will display on NBCSN for the NHL’s Wednesday night rivalry night. These two teams have a long history together and it is always exciting when they get together for a game. Not too often do these two teams see each other anymore as the Chicago plays out of the West and Rangers play out of the East so whenever two very storied franchises get together it always makes for an exciting matchup in front of a sell out crowd. The Blackhawks currently sit just out of a playoff spot winning six of their last ten games and earning a point in seven of those ten games. While Corey Crawford is out, Anton Forsberg and Jeff Glass have been sharing the net duties, hoping to keep Chicago in a spot until Crawford returns. Tonight we will see Jeff Glass in net for Chicago, the 32-year-old storied goaltender picked up his first NHL win the other night vs Edmonton stopping 42 of 45 shots on net. While the Rangers will be going with Henrik Lundqvist yet again. The Rangers are coming off a big win during the Winter Classic, where they looked terrible, played sloppily and took penalties, they hope to turn this fortune around and stay in the win column amongst this tough Metro division race. The Blackhawks have been playing better as of late but still are not where they would like to be, a playoff spot is insights and a road win would be a major confidence booster for this team. Some slow production from Brandon Saad and Jonathan Toews this season has not helped Chicago. But, tonight I am sticking with the home team, go Rangers.
Ottawa Senators(12-17-8) vs Detroit Red Wings(15-16-7): A battle in the basement of the Atlantic tonight as one team who has been the laughing stock of the NHL for the past month now comes into Little Cesears arena hoping to get a win, something that has been scare among the Ottawa organization this season. The Senators are now 3-6-1 in their last ten and have trouble finding ways to win. And as the team continues to struggle the media attention continues to swarm them. The Red Wings although are in the bottom of the rankings have been playing much better than Ottawa this season. The Red Wings are 4-4-2 in their last ten and always compete against good teams. Tonight is tough because it seems as if Craig Anderson is in net tonight and we cannot even say oh, he’ll play well for them because he has been a disaster as well allowing 14 goals in last three games and his last win coming December 16. The Red Wings goaltending has not been much better, as that has been the kryptonite to this team(one of the reasons), but Detroit’s young and exciting offense definitely comes to play on certain nights and the future looks bright. A struggling, depressed Ottawa team, I am going Detroit tonight.
