I hate the Rangers. Personally for me, it’s a team I equate to another Washington Capitals. They do really well in the regular season and then crap-out during the playoffs. We all hear the “Let’s Go Rangers” post goal song belting through everyone’s snap chat story’s when they go to games. They are just loud, annoying, and shoving their team in your face.
If the Rangers want to win Rick Nash needs to be the player they thought they signed after he left columbus. The last couple of games he has been playing well. Through 2 games he has 4 goals but before that he had a 12 game goal drought. I don’t expect him to maintain the goal streak tomorrow.
Looking at the Ranger’s lineup there is not one line that is going to kill a team. Its more or less one player on each line that you have to watch out for. Nash, Zuccarello, Grabner and Vesey? Maybe its the mystique of the Rangers recent success in the regular season that casts some doubt but I don’t really see anyone besides the first line being able to get through to Lundqvist. A player I expect to see more from would be J.T. Miller. I think playing in the World Cup of Hockey last year gave him a confidence boost for the first half of the season. The confidence has not really translated to this season. I can see him having a good game against the Avalanche though.
The first game of the season the Avalanche took on the Rangers in MSG and ended up winning 4-2. I think the team the Rangers will be playing on Saturday is a better/different team. The team the Avalanche are going to be playing is also a different team and by the looks of their injury report it is a worse team. Shattenkirk, Hayes, and Staal are all out. I think the Avalanche will sweep the season series with the Rangers. It’s hard to keep focus for such long periods of time but this team is missing some key pieces of the puzzle of they want to be the ones who end the streak. The Avalanche have won 8 games in a row now. Why stop there?
I would like to see a couple of short-handed breakaways from J.T. Compher tomorrow. With some of the big guns on defense out I think he will be able to take advantage of some inexperience on the back-end.
Its imperative that the Avalanche get the first goal tomorrow. Over the expanse of the win streak they have never been trailing in a game and it would be good to not change up how things are flowing. If the Rangers score first I think they have the game in the bag simply because its been a while since the Avalanche had had to quell the emotions of being behind in a game. I think the Avalanche will win because I want to believe they will win.
4-2 Avalanche 3-2 with an empty-netter
Nathan MacKinnon is sporting a four game goal streak… just a polite reminder to the “King”.
