Philadelphia Flyers(34-22-11) vs Boston Bruins(41-15-8)
The Flyers get another test at one of the top teams in the league, the Bruins. The Flyers dropped Wednesday nights game against one of their division rivals and top teams in the league Pittsburgh. Not a great sign for Flyer fans, but one cannot be disappointed in the Flyers play as of late. Now, they with a quick turn around travel from Pittsburgh to Massacheutts, the Flyers will have to turn the page quickly looking to get in the win column. Luckily the Flyers face off against the Bruins when the Bruins are without David Backes(suspended), Charlie McAvoy(LBI) and Patrice Bergeron(LBI). Both teams will be dealing with their own issues. Flyers tired legs, Bruins injured line up. The Bruins are six points behind the Lightning for the division lead and have been chasing the Bolts for the entire season, with another two on the line the Bruins will look to close in on the Bolts before the season comes to an end. The Bruins are 7-3-0 in their last ten, on a 4-game winning streak and 23-7-4 at home, while the Flyers are on a 2-game losing streak, 6-3-1 in their last ten and 18-11-5 at home. Tonight I am going to stick with the Bruins on home ice, hot, and ready for the playoffs.
Winnipeg Jets(40-17-9) vs New Jersey Devils(34-25-8)
What’s the story coming into tonight, the fact Patrik Laine is now two goals out of the lead league and has scored 13 goals in 9 games or that Taylor Hall has collected a point in 26 straight games. The Jets are coming into full stride it seems since the trade deadline, they are 8-2-0 in their last ten and on a 3-game winning streak. The Devils are “comfortably” sitting in a playoff spot due to how poorly some teams in the hunt are playing, the Devils are 5-5-0 in their last ten, and 5 points in a playoff spot. The Devils are playing mediocre hockey and with 15 games left to play and some teams on their tail, the Devils need to start picking it up as a whole. The Jets are within in a playoff spot and will be meeting either three seed or last wild card team they trail the Predators for the division lead by six points and with how Nashville is playing the Jets can’t take a night off. The Jets are a high powered offense who is finally healthy on almost all facets off the ice(Jacob Trouba out), but despite Trouba, the Jets are enjoying a well balanced top six and top four defense. Tonight I am going with the better team and the road team, Jets.
Vegas Golden Knights(42-19-5) vs Detroit Red Wings(26-29-11)
The Golden Knights are in a playoff spot people, they have 16 games to play and ahead of the Ducks by 9 points, it seems like we will see Vegas in the playoffs during their first season, what the hell is what I am thinking. Anyways Vegas seems to be a contender this year and with how their 5-4-1 record in their last ten, we may be seeing a slowing down Vegas team though. The story going into tonight is Tomas Tartar and his return to Detroit since the trade. Tartar will make his way back to his old stomping grounds relatively quickly since the trade so we can expect emotions to be high and Tartar to bury at least point. Detroit is just trying to play some spoiler hockey tonight and the rest of the season, well out of a playoff spot and have not much to play for. Detroit is 3-5-2 in their last ten and 13-13-8 at home, while Vegas is 18-12-3 on the road. With a healthy Vegas line up and a couple of days rest, despite being on the road, I am going to go Vegas.
Anaheim Ducks(34-21-12) vs Nashville Predators(43-14-9)
Two extremely hot teams right now, one is one a NINE game winning streak the other has won seven of their last ten and on a three-game winning streak. The Predators look to be cup favorites with the way they are playing right now, nine straight is some serious business and the Predators are not going to be stopping anytime soon. The Predators also stay home tonight a place they see a ton of success, with a record of 23-7-3, going up against the Ducks 15-12-7 away record. The Predators top six, hell even top nine is about the best in the league, not many teams can handle this offense and it is showing as the Preds have absolutely torn through the league lately. The Ducks have propelled themselves into the second spot in the Pacific, at one point this team was a borderline playoff team and since taking off some off the top teams in the league, stringing together some big wins, the Ducks are playing with confidence and energy. I’m telling you, folks, watch out for this team come playoff time, they are extremely deep down the middle on the front end as well as on the back end, if John Gibson or Ryan Miller can pull a couple games out their ass, we may see this team pretty deep in the playoff hunt. Tonight though have to stay with the hot hand, at home, nine straight, going, Predators.
Washington Capitals(37-22-7) vs Los Angeles Kings(36-25-5)
The Capitals are entering game two of their west coast trip, the first one vs Anaheim Tuesday night did not turn the way they expected it, as they got shutout. They now turn around and face a team that is hunting for a playoff spot and looking to stay afloat in the wild card race. The Kings, they themselves are coming off a terrible loss to one of the worst in the league, Chicago. But, a nice five days rest compared to the Capitals one day rest should give the Kings the advantage here. The capitals are bouncing in and out of a first place and trail the Penguins by one point now. They are 5-5-0 in their last ten and have been playing mediocre hockey at best, with how competitive the Metro has been this year, the Capitals have no time to start falling off now. They do have two games in hand to Pittsburgh but every point counts for this club. The Kings though are tied for a wild-card spot with the Avalanche and have the same amount of games played as them. The Kings are 6-4-0 in their last ten, again playing mediocre hockey, for a team wanting to make a push we should expect to see a hungry Kings team tonight. Two teams coming off bad losses, this one should be fun. Tonight though I am going Capitals.
