Florida Panthers(39-28-7) vs Toronto Maple Leafs(45-24-7)
The Panthers cannot catch a break, as the playoff race tightens and the regular season ends, the Devils and Panthers continues to be a neck and neck race. The Devils won Tuesday night throwing them again three points ahead, the Panthers are challenged with yet another must win again vs a team that lost to the worst team in the NHL Monday night at home. So we can assume the Leafs will be extremely edgy and pissed, they will come out flying and ready to win. Before losing to Buffalo Monday the Leafs have not lost a home game in 13 games. This comes at a bad time for the Panthers, but they are playing well over the last month as they post a 7-3-0 record in their last ten and on a two-game win streak. With Roberto Luongo probably back tonight is a major plus for the Panthers, although James Reimer has been playing well for the Panthers their veteran goaltender is a major plus. The Leafs are comfortably in the three seed the only team behind them are the Panthers who are 12 points behind. Essentially this game means very little for the Leafs but coming off a loss to Buffalo in Toronto plays a major factor in this game. Confirmed we will see Luongo in net for Florida(15-10-2, 2.55 GAA, .927 SV %) and Anderson in net for Maple Leafs(35-20-5, 2.81 GAA, .918 SV %). Panthers are going to have to scratch and claw to win this game, it will for sure come down to the wire, but we can expect a Leafs win.
Arizona Coyotes(26-39-11) vs Vegas Golden Knights(48-21-7)
The Golden Knights continue to make history and another check in the record book as they clinch the playoffs during their first year as an organization. The Golden Knights do in fact come into this game off a win vs Colorado with a 6-2-2 record in their last ten. This game really means nothing for both teams as one is in a playoff spot and one is completely out of a playoff spot. The Coyotes come into this game off a major upset win over Tampa Bay in Tampa, but there is very little chance that happens here tonight. The Coyotes have been playing better as of late winning five of their last ten games, but in the end, two upset wins in a week, no way. Vegas keeps the pedal to the metal and beats this hot Arizona team. The Coyotes will be looking to Antti Raanta tonight it seems as Vegas’s goaltender is unconfirmed I’d be surprised if it was Fleury in net. These two have met four times and the season series belongs to Vegas 4-0, winning their last game in December, but Vegas for the season series sweep here.
Philadelphia Flyers(38-25-14) vs Colorado Avalanche(41-27-8)
What a TERRIBLE loss for the Flyers Tuesday night as they dropped a crucial game to the Stars, a Stars team that has won just 2 games in their last ten, the Flyers now drop that gimme game and are only two points ahead of the Devils for the first wild-card spot. With only 5 games left to play the Flyers are still not securely in a playoff spot and there run tonight does not get easier. They face a Colorado team that is coming off a loss to Vegas and battling for a playoff spot. With the Blues win Tuesday night the Avalanche are now in crunch time as they are one point out of a playoff spot with very little time to make this playoff push a reality. The Flyers come into this game with a record of 4-3-3 in their last ten and on a back to back, the travel from Dallas to Colorado and two games in two days will hurt the Flyers, as they will also probably be going with Alex Lyon tonight as Mrazek has started the last two games. The Avalanche are 6-3-1 in their last ten and have been quite the story this year coming from the worst team in the NHL to now a playoff team is a quick turn around. The Avalanche come off a two-day rest so we can assume that Semyon Varlamov will be in net here tonight. Tonight I am going a desperate, gritty Avs team.
