Florida Panthers(39-29-8) vs Boston Bruins(48-17-11)
The Panthers playoff chances are dwindling right now as the Devils continue to pick up some major points and stay ahead by three-points the Panthers continue to chase, this race won’t end up until the last day. And they face yet another tough opponent that will not be easy for the Panthers to pick up two points from. The Bruins were for a short time the first time in the Atlantic, but the Panthers coming off a terrible loss to a bad team Thursday night really hurts this team this is the second time in the last month the Panthers have allowed two points to fall through their fingers. The Bruins come into this game beating one of the best teams in the NHL and posting a 5-2-3 record in their last ten. This game will come at 1:00 pm (est) and will be the second of four meetings between these two, the first game Florida won 3-0 in Florida, now they travel to Boston. Which has been one of the toughest places to win. These two play three times in a matter of eight days, not great news for the Panthers. Today, I am going Bruins.
Winnipeg Jets(47-20-10) vs Toronto Maple Leafs(47-24-7)
These two rarely see each other a nice East vs West matchup though between two very high powered offenses and two really good teams. The Leafs come into this game on a back to back off the Islanders, Winnipeg comes in well rested off a terrible loss to one of the worst teams in the league, who used an emergency goalie. These two did meet one time this year earlier October 4, where the Leafs smoked the Jets 7-2. This game does not mean much both teams are pretty locked in on their playoff spot right now, they both clinched so I think we can see the back up here for either team, a little less exciting game and not much pressure on either side. The story really is Laine vs Matthews as they were drafted the same year, 1,2 so obviously that is all we will hear probably. The Jets are 6-3-1 in their last ten and the Leafs are 8-2-0. As the Leafs played last night in Brooklyn to now travel to Toronto should be a factor in tonight’s game, as the season winds down and these games pop up, there is not much incentive to go after them. I’m going Jets tonight.
Minnesota Wild(43-24-10) vs Dallas Stars(39-31-8)
The Wild come into this game playing Dallas just two days ago in which they won 5-2, and the Stars have not been able to fight their way into a playoff spot and as it seems with the season closing the Stars will miss yet again. The Wild have been playing pretty well lately, some real solid opponent and desperate hockey, but as the Blues are playing really well out of nowhere they only lead by four points and the Blues play Arizona tonight. An essential must-win game for the Wild. The Stars come into this game in six points out winning one game in their last ten and 1-7-2 in the last ten with very little playoff chances. The Stars goaltending was known to be the problem and we all predicted how this would come out. The Stars all season have been running through three guys on offense, one on defense and relying heavily on these guys with an unbalanced lineup and some players not producing they have found themselves struggling a ton lately. Tonight, no matter who is in net for either team, going Wild.
San Jose Sharks(44-24-10) vs Vegas Golden Knights(49-22-7)
The Sharks and Golden Knights played each other just nine days ago and this will mark the last meeting of four between these two. The season series favors the Golden Knights 2-1, each game has been a real close, one-goal game, requiring extra time for two of the three. The Golden Knights have locked in a playoff spot so no worry from these guys but they obviously want to take the season series against their division rival. The Golden Knights come 5-3-2 in their last ten off a 4-3 win vs St. Louis as the Sharks are 8-1-1 in their last ten coming off a loss to Nashville snapping their win streak. The Sharks have been one of the hottest teams in the NHL, their offense has been producing on all cylinders from some unexpected names but Evander Kane and Logan Couture have done the heavy lifting for this front end. The Golden Knights have their first 40-goal scorer though as William Karlsson has now popped 40 plus now and is on fire along with his counterparts, Jonathan Marchessault, Riley Smith, Tomas Tartar and Erik Haula. The Golden Knights and both the Sharks have shattered expectations this year. This will be an eventful playoff atmosphere game, everything will be left on the line tonight. The Sharks have a chance to tie the season series and create a little more than a four-point separation, and the Golden Knights want to continue this hot streak and ride with some momentum into playoffs. Going Sharks tonight.
