John Tavares contract news, Red Wings sign Dan Bylsma as an assistant coach, Kovalchuk WATCH, Craig Anderson out in Ottawa…

Yeah big headline, little text. Sue me.

John Tavares is going to be staying in New York, per Mike Commodore it is rumored that Tavares and the Islanders are essentially all settled on a deal that could look like 8 years upwards of 10 mil. New York Islander fans your prayers have been answered, your lord and savior is staying!

Red Wings hire Bylsma as assistant coach

Red Wings have signed Dan Bylsma as their assistant coach. Bylsma spent 6 seasons in Pittsburgh winning the Stanley Cup in his first year with the Penguins and going onto to lead the Penguins to a 2nd place finish or better every year with the club. After Pittsburgh and Blysma split in 2014, Bylsma went to Buffalo for a short two years where he combined for a 68-73-23 record. Bylsma won the Jack Adams in 2010-11. The Red Wings for sure added a great veteran and different mindset to their coaching staff now.

Ilya Kovalchuk will be meeting with the four finalists to sign him Friday, of those four teams they are the Bruins, Kings, Sharks and Golden Knights.

Anderson out in Ottawa?

The Senators have come out and said they will be looking for trade partners to get rid of Craig Anderson, the 37-year-old goaltender had one of the worst years in his 16-year career. The only issue with Anderson is his 2 years and 4.75 AAV left on his contract. Not many teams will want to eat that or even half of that for a 37-year-old goaltender.
