Fantasy Hockey mock draft results

Check this out, I participated in a fantasy hockey mock draft today and it turned out really eye opening, pretty unhelpful and left me concerned for some fantasy owners out there.

First off, I had the 6th pick, therefore Patrik Laine was a common pick. But the most glaring and unspeakable thing that happened today was Connor McDavid falling to 5th in this draft. Patty Kane went 1, Jamie Benn 2 and from there I just lost all hope.

Rounds 1-3

Anyways, here is what I did, and I really had no intention on doing it. I went with 3 forwards, really looking at my 3 forwards, how can I be unhappy? Two 30-goal scorers, a 50 assist guy and three top 25 forwards.

Rounds 4-5

Next I realized well shit I need a goalie banked on Martin Jones with the recent additions in San Jose, yeah lets say Jones as consistent as he is, is even better. Next with Marc Andre Fleury, I usually never go two goalies in a row but if this was a real league I’d be happy with my two tenders and plus Fleury was there with some forward and defenseman options but it seemed safe to get a solid goalie knowing there was a lot of draft left.

Rounds 6-7

After that I went with Jonathan Marchessault and Jonathan Huberdeau, again these two play on the first line, power play time and will tally upwards of 70 points if healthy.

Rounds 7-12

Honestly, after those two picks I realized I had no defenseman so I loaded up on d, this was did not turn out bad either I ended up with Dumba, Dahlin, Muzzin and Parayko, not going to get a ton of production out of that blue line but they are safe bets and I know that I will not be getting a down year in any of them, possibly even break years in some. After d, I went with JVR, a sure 30-goal scorer if things end up right in Philly and again a top six forward and power play guy.

After JVR I called the quits the people drafting in this league were either 4-years-old or thinking it was 2014, I don’t know what they were smoking but I know I should stay away from them after this draft. It was not a good indication of what I will be facing come my draft but it was better than nothing. I probably would not have ended up with Laine, Pasta, Kuznestov to start but maybe I would have either way it’s good to do mock drafts to get the juices flowing and the brain in fantasy hockey mode, after all this fantasy football and NFL talk.

Below are the results, not a bad team, eh? I’d say a final contending team, what do you think?

1. Patrik Laine (Wpg – RW)
2. David Pastrnak (Bos – RW)
3. Evgeny Kuznetsov (Was – C)
4. Martin Jones (SJ – G)
