Nick Schmaltz, since coming to Arizona Schmaltz has tallied two goals and three assists in the five games he has played with Arizona. It seems Schmaltz is enjoying the pairing of Alex Galchenyuk and Clayton Keller. Clearly when this move happened it increased Schmaltz value just a little due to the fact he would get more touches and play alongside two players that he more so relates too. Schmaltz now has 4 goals and 12 assists on the year, a player you may want to keep any eye on. He is owned in 20 percent of leagues too (yahoo).
Travis Konecny, he may have been on my list two weeks ago which means this is a good sign to go ahead and pick him up. Konecny over the last 14 days has 3 goals and 4 assists that is half of his point totals this year. On the year he has 8 goals and 10 assists. Konecny seems like he will not be moving from that right wing on the first line anytime soon. He is 50 percent owned in yahoo leagues and as his point total and production increases come two weeks he may be unavailable. Over the last five games Konecny has 3 goals and 4 assists.
Pontus Aberg, this is the Ducks leading scorer. The second place Anaheim Ducks leading scorer, clearly there is value here. Well, Aberg since his recent up tick in production has made his way onto the first line of the Ducks with Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell, even more of a reason to go after him now. Aberg has 3 goals and 4 assists in his last five games, on the year he has 9 goals and 6 assists, just in five games he has almost all his points on the year. This is a type of player you add for 1-2 weeks and see how he does. He does nothing, you drop him it is not like you are losing much. Aberg is owned in 20 percent of yahoo leagues.
Cody Eakin, the Golden Knights fiery center finds his way on the scoresheet one way or another, whether it is penalty minutes, hits or assists/goals he is going to be involved in the Golden Knights offense some how. Eakin has 11 goals and 8 assists on the year, over the last five games he has 3 goals and 3 assists, over the last ten games he has 4 goals and 6 assists. Eakin is clearly finding his way consistently on the score sheet. He plays on the second line with Max Pacioretty and Alex Tuch as well as power play two. A player you monitor and use as a drop/add guy. Eakin is 15 percent owned in yahoo leagues.
Mike Matheson: This guy reminds me a lot of Keith Yandle and it seems he can do the same as Yandle as well, Matheson is a big left handed defenseman who can skate and chip in on both ends of the ice. Matheson has recorded a point in every game expect for four from November 15th to December 6th. He clearly can be a useful add being he plays top four minutes and power play two. On the year Matheson has 2 goals and 11 assists, over the last five games Matheson has 3 assists and one goal. He is owned in 16 percent of leagues, a player that you can add and keep all year that will provide value.
Mike Green: He is honestly the only offensive defenseman the Red Wings have and he is involved in almost play for the Red Wings offensively and what makes him even more valuable is that over the last 30 days Green has 13 points and only one of them come on the power play. Which means 5 on 5 he is becoming more effective compared to last year Green was a power play specialist. Green has 3 goals 10 assists, +11, 34 shots on goal, 21 hits over the last 30 days(14 games) and he is doing this consistently. He is owned in 47 percent of leagues and a player you can add and keep all year.
Scott Mayfield: It seems Mayfield is getting more looks than Adam Pelech which is a good sign if you want Mayfield that is. 5 on 5 Mayfield has been more than effective, he has 14 points and none of them come a man up. Mayfield has 7 assists and one goal over the last 30 days (13 games). This is a player you should probably monitor because due to the young d-men on the Isles blue line this guys can be streaky players. If Mayfield continues this production of .5 point per game he can be a very useful player for you later on. Not only does he produce on the score sheet but he also has 21 shots on goal and 22 hits over these 13 games. He is owned in just 7 percent of leagues.
Mikko Koskinen: This young goaltender has almost rode Cam Talbot out of net and out of Edmonton. Over the last 30 days (9 games) Koskinen has 5 wins, a 1.98 goals against (GAA) .930 save percentage and one shutout. Clearly Edmonton has some questions to answer but Koskinen is looking to be the number one right now. I would probably have this guy on my roster ASAP if I was you although Edmonton is not a great team, they pull wins out every so often. He is owned in 59 percent of leagues, wait a week and he will be unavailable.
Mike Smith: Started out terrible had David Rittich take his job and now he is back. Perhaps a two goalie tandem works for Calgary but the Flames in general have been amazing, they lead the Pacific and have dominated almost every game over the last month. As for Smith over the last 30 days he has 8 games played, 5 wins, 1.98 GAA, .920 save percentage and a win in his last five starts. In Smith’s last five he has allowed seven goals. Smith is owned in 64 percent of leagues, maybe go and get him soon…
Adin Hill, Jimmy Howard, Alex Stalock are to be on the watch list also…
