NHL Picks March 21st 2019

Detroit Red Wings vs St. Louis Blues:

This one should not be too hard for people to decide between. Blues are going to need all the momentum they can get moving into the playoffs. They are coming off a convincing win vs the Oilers Tuesday night and the Red Wings are coming off a win vs the Rangers. Blues are 18-15-2 at home this season and 4-4-2 in their last ten games. They should easily handle the Red Wings with no issues. The over/under is 5.5 and Blues are -360, therefore heavily favorites to win this game. I’d go with the Blues to cover a two-goal spread as well. They are getting Patrick Maroon back on the board, David Perron is back, Jaden Schwartz is red hot. I can see a 5-goal game from St. Louis here.

Winnipeg Jets vs Golden Knights

This is going to be a great game. These two have played two times already this season. The Jets have won both games, one in Winnipeg and one in Vegas. The only downside for Winnipeg is that Connor Hellebyuck will not be in net (probable) as he played Wednesday night and the Jets are on a back to back and the Golden Knights have Marc Andre-Fleury their ace in net. The Jets 7-3-0 in their last ten on a four-game win streak but, Vegas is 9-1-0 in their last ten and on a three-game win streak. The Golden Knights are going to use their quick pace, high tempo hockey to their advantage and probably try to push the game speed on the Jets as the Jets are on back to back going from Anaheim to Vegas in 24 hours. I like Vegas tonight. Probably the under too.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Nashville Predators

The Penguins do not seem like the same team as they have been in the past but they are still a team you do not take lightly. They have lost three-straight now and have scored four goals in those three games. They have Phil Kessel who has been quiet, Jared McCann who has been quiet lately and Evgeni Malkin not producing a lot either. The Predators are on a three-game win streak and coming off a big home win shutout vs the Leafs. As much as the Predators may regarded as the favorite here, I like the Penguins. For some reason something tells me the Penguins come into this game a little over looked by Nashville, they jump out hot and control the tempo and Predators play catch up all game. I see a big game from Malkin and Matt Murray tonight. Going Penguins on the road.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Edmonton Oilers

The Blue Jackets are playing with fire right now. With only 9 games remaining they are barely in a playoff spot, leading Montreal by one point (who play at home tonight) and Flyers by six points. The Blue Jackets need to win this game. And if they do not win here tonight, I could see the Canadiens sneaking in the last wild card spot. The Blue Jackets are 4-5-1 in their last ten and have dropped two straight games. As the Oilers are 6-4-0 in their last ten and on a two game skid as well. The Blue Jackets have a huge advantage here tonight and need to win this game to at least give them some confidence moving forward. I except the Blue Jackets to come out flying and win 4-1.

Arizona Coyotes vs Florida Panthers

The Coyotes are in the same boat as the Blue Jackets. They have dropped two straight and have a one point lead on Minnesota for the last wild card spot. The Coyotes do not get an easy opponent either as the Panthers are a tough team and a very strong offensive tam that loves to shoot the puck from everywhere. We will have to see a great defensive game from Arizona and Darcy Kuemper. The Coyotes manage to get on the Panthers early I think wee an Arizona win but if the game is tight and or tied until the third I like the Panthers. Florida is 18-12-6 at home and 4-4-2 in their last ten as the Coyotes are 18-16-2 on the road and 6-3-1 in their last ten. I like the Coyotes tonight though.

NFL Week 10 Picks

Go with the over!

New Orleans Saints( 7-1-0) vs Cincinnati Bengals(5-3-0)

The Bengals and Saints are two high scoring offenses, with AJ Green out this week it makes it a little easier on an already struggling Saints defense, despite the Saints defensive struggles this season their offense has surged this 7-1 record, and an NFL best team this year. The Saints have two weapons on offense do all the heavy lifting. Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara with of course Drew Brees throwing the ball, they also have good additions with Tre ‘Quan Smith, Ted Ginn Jr and Benjamin Watson. It is apparent the Saints are going all in this season and I would not count them out in any game, especially this one. The Bengals need a big win as the Steelers ran over Carolina Thursday night they fall even more behind Pittsburgh for the division lead. Despite the Bengals must win situation, I do not see it happen, but what I do see happening is the over of 54 to hit, the spread is 6.5 therefore the Saints would need to win by a touchdown or more to cover, the money line is also -275 Saints, +225 Cincy. I like the over and Saints.

Detroit Lions(3-5-0) vs Chicago Bears(5-3-0)

The Bears must keep the wins coming, they have a good chance of winning the division too with the Vikings on a bye this week this is great time for the Bears to get some separation in the NFC North. Despite the Lions 3-5-0 record they have a team that could potentially knock off the Bears, they are a competitive team with a good offense, they have just been inconsistent. At home in Chicago where the Bears are 3-1 and on a two-game win streak, I like the Bears and the over in this game. The over/under is 41, for some reason it seems low, I think we can all agree the Bears and Lions are capable of 21 points each this seems like a solid over to pick. Bears could easily score 30 points and win 32-27, Bears for the win and the over.

Dallas Cowboys(3-5-0) vs Philadelphia Eagles(4-4-0)

This is the time where the Eagles need to start getting back to their Super Bowl play, they have lost four games already this season with loses coming against two mediocre teams. The Eagles coming off a win over the Jaguars and a bye week has the perfect making for a Philadelphia offensive explosion we are looking for. The Eagles highest point total this season has 34 points vs the Giants. The Cowboys and Eagles clearly have a good rival going and if the Cowboys win and Eagles lose they are neck and neck for 2nd place. I don’t see the Eagles losing on home field, plus they are due for a break out game of 35+ points, Cowboys will keep it close as well in a divisional game like this, it seems possible that the over 43.5 will hit. I like the Eagles and the over here.

Cover the SPREAD!

Atlanta Falcons(4-4-0) vs Cleveland Browns(2-6-1)

The spread in this game is 6.5 the Falcons are capable of covering that for sure. Finally Julio Jones and Matt Ryan connected for a touchdown so the flood gates have opened. Plus with the Falcons coming off a big week 9 win over the Redskins in Washington, they are clearly capable of scoring of 38 on Washington they can do against the Browns also. The Browns offense is not one to over look plus the Browns have been notorious this season for uncertain outcomes and competitive play. The Browns can easily score 20 points and make it a win by three situation for Atlanta but with how the division is shaping up for the Falcons they cannot afford to lose this game and possibly the wild card. Going Falcons to over the 6.5 spread.

Washington Redskins(4-4-0) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers(3-5-0)

The Bucs have been struggling as of late there is no denying that, they are 1-4 in their last five on a two game losing streak and basically out of the hunt. The Bucs offense though has shown signs of being unstoppable they rank among the top of the league for points and yards per game, going up against an offense that is the complete opposite that has trouble scoring. I think the Bucs come out early and get on the Redskins quick as long as the defense can hold up for the Bucs and they get an early 14+ point lead heading into the third quarter this game is all Bucs. The Redskins offense has struggled this season and their defense is not technically shutdown, there are holes on this defense for Washington and in a pass heavy offense the Buccaneers will be testing the Redskins pass defense all game. Buccaneers to cover 3 point spread for sure.

Some game(s)….Just take it!

New England Patriots(7-2-0) vs Tennessee Titans(4-4-0)

The Patriots are going to win this game there is no hiding that, sure the Titans are solid team but they do not have the offensive power to keep up with Tom Brady and the Patriots offense, the game may be close going into the third quarter and you may be thinking your bet won’t hit but the Patriots will probably score 21 in the second half and win the game by 14 points.

Arizona Cardinals( 2-6-0) vs Kansas City Chiefs(8-1-0)

If your heart desires this game so be it but the Chiefs are going to win the reward will be small to nothing and the spread is 17 points, which honestly they could probably cover but it is way to large to go after, the over is 51 which I see going under solely because the Cardinals will not score more than 17 points and the Chiefs will score around 30 probably. The over/under is even more tricky cause the Chiefs can score 40 points but still I could even see Arizona score 10 points all game. Either stay away or go money line.

Way down under (under’s to hit)

Miami Dolphins(5-4-0) vs Green Bay Packers(3-4-1)

The over/under is 47.5 which means 48 and that means the Dolphins and Packers will need to score 24 points each. I see the Packers scoring around 30 and the Dolphins in the 14 range, Dolphins offense does not have much going for them and the Packers are playing with a banged up Aaron Rodgers where if this game is out of reach for Miami, Rodgers could sit to rest up. Probably the under of 47.5.

Los Angeles Chargers(6-2-0) vs Oakland Raiders(1-7-0)

The Raiders offense barely was capable of scoring three points vs San Francisco and they will not score anything more vs a better defense. the Chargers will more than likely control the clock all game, score around 32 points, Raiders score 10 at most and the under hits. The game will be a snooze fest come the 4th quarter it will be just Los Angeles running the ball, eating the clock. Not enough offensive power on both sides for this over to hit plus with a checked out Oakland team this game will be a bore.

Montreal Canadiens(8-4-2) vs New York Rangers(6-7-1)

The Canadiens are on a back to back for their New York area road trip. After coming back 3-1 to beat the Islanders 4-3 in a shootout Monday night. The Canadiens and their 2nd place record now gives this team a whole new set of confidence. It will for sure be tough to go back to back but the travel is not long for the Canadiens and the Rangers are a young, struggling team trying to find their identity right now. The Canadiens are most likely going with Carey Price tonight also as Antti Niemi started Monday night. As Henrik Lundqvist is set to start for the Rangers. These two teams have been pretty good over their last ten, the Canadiens are 6-3-1 in their last ten as the Rangers are 5-4-1 on a three-game win streak. I think this will be a close game, with the Canadiens playing back to back and Rangers not being a consistent offensive team. Set to be a low scoring game. The Rangers are 4-3 on home ice as the Canadiens are 3-1-2 on the road. Tonight, unpopular but going the Rangers.

Vegas Golden Knights(6-7-1) vs Toronto Maple Leafs(9-5-0)

The Golden Knights have not started out the way many expected nor coach Gerard Gallant would like to. The Golden Knights are 7th in the division right now, one game below .500 and beginning their four game road trip with Toronto. The Golden Knights are 2-5 on the road this season as well as 5-4-1 in their last ten. The Leafs are 6-4-0 in their last ten and have been struggling without Auston Matthews, there is no timetable for Matthews return right now but the Leafs seem to need him. The Leafs are 3-5-0 on home ice and with the Atlantic pretty tight right now and struggling over the last two weeks, this is going to be a game the Leafs must win. With both Marc Andre Fleury and Frederick Anderson in net, both starters will be on their best as they have all season. Anderson has a 2.28 goals against (GAA) and Fleury has a 2.51 GAA, we could see a low scoring game for sure. Choice here tonight, Leafs.

Dallas Stars(8-5-1) vs Columbus Blue Jackets(7-6-1)

The Stars have been playing pretty decent over their last ten and are now coming into tonight off a game Monday night in which they lost 2-1 in overtime. This is bizarre schedule for Dallas, they go from on the road in Boston to Columbus in less than twenty-four hours. That is a nightmare of traveling, and going to be tough to shake off the tired legs. The Blue Jackets are coming into this game on a two-game losing streak, 4-5-1 in their last ten and their last game was a mess. They allowed two short handed goals in their loss to the Kings but with two days rest they should be good to go. With projected Ben Bishop and Sergei Bobrovsky in net, it could go either way. Either a high scoring game or low scoring. Bishop has a 2.32 GAA while Bobrovsky has a 3.33 GAA, well see what Bob we get in net tonight. The Stars are going to be exhausted that is for sure, the Blue Jackets should take advantage of the Stars terrible schedule and jump on them early. Going with Columbus tonight.

New Jersey Devils(6-5-1) vs Ottawa Senators(5-6-3)

The Devils are going from Pittsburgh to Ottawa in a days notice and this will be an interesting game. After beating the Penguins 5-1 fueled by Brain Boyles hattrick hopefully Nico Hischier and Taylor Hall have something left in the tank to help the Devils stay in the win column. The Senators are now on a two-game losing streak and the locker room is probably in shambles after the video that was released yesterday about the team(more to come after this article). The Senators are on a two-game losing streak, 4-2-2 on home ice vs the Devils 1-5-0 record on the road. The Devils should be going with Corey Schneider and the Senators to go with Craig Anderson. The Devils are traveling a long ways, but I still think they take this game the Senators atmosphere is probably a mess right now. Devils with the under.

Carolina Hurricanes(6-6-2) vs St. Louis Blues(4-5-3)

The Hurricanes are coming into St. Louis on four-game losing streak, 3-6-1 in their last ten and 3-3-1 on the road. As the Blues are 3-4-1 on home ice, 4-4-2 in their last ten and having dropped their last game Saturday vs Minnesota. The Blues are doing all they can to stay in the mix of things in the Western Conference they are seeing some great production from Ryan O’Reilly and David Perron but again their goaltending has been shaky. Jake Allen has a 3.99 GAA and .879 save percentage. Their defense is at fault as well but they should be a team that plays all areas of the game well with the line up they have. I think the Hurricanes come in and make it competitive but the Blues get a much needed victory.

Minnesota Wild(8-3-2) vs San Jose Sharks(7-4-3)

The Wild have been an absolute wagon as of late, every time I go against them they prove me wrong. The Wild are coming into San Jose, 2nd in the Central and on a two-game winning streak. The Wild and Sharks are two high scoring teams they both average above 3 goals a game, above 30 shots on net, both power plays are at around 18.3 % to 21 percent, both allow less than 2.9 goals a game, less than 30 shots on net per game and penalty kills are neck and neck at around 85 percent. Two very similar teams, the Wild are seeing Devan Dubnyk at his best as well with a 2.07 GAA and .937 save percentage. This will be a low scoring, goalie battle. Both teams can score and defend and both goalies are very good. Tonight, I see Sharks getting a big win against a good team.

Other games on tonight:

Edmonton Oilers(8-4-1) vs Tampa Bay Lightning(10-3-1):

Going Lightning, Oilers back to back, Lightning are just a better team plus rested and on home ice. Lightning for sure.

Vancouver Canucks(9-6-0) vs Detroit Red Wings(4-8-2):

Canucks continue the hot streak.

Anaheim Ducks(6-6-3) vs Los Angeles Kings(4-8-1):

Worries me a ton both teams are lost right now and struggling. Going Kings though first game with interim head coach, going to play big while odds are against them.

FREE NHL Picks: February 21, 2018

I need to pump the brakes may be, last night I went 3-4-1, on the week I am 5-6-1, not great, and plus there are only three games tonight so I will not be going into too much depth, perhaps more of a comical, cynical twist on the picks today. A bunch of slump games no one cares about either, Senators vs Blackhawks sweet, catch me watching speedy skating or some junk. Ducks vs Stars is a solid game but two playoff teams, that will battle, but Gibson is out, of course, the guy is made of glass, Miller steps up big time takes it to Dallas. Vegas vs Calgary probably one of the better matchups but at 10:30 p.m. (est) start time I don’t know many people staying up to watch this one.

Ottawa Senators(21-28-9) vs Chicago Blackhawks(25-27-8)

The Senators are terrible the Hawks are terrible. This game is terrible. The Blackhawks are literally 1-8-1 in their last ten games and are on the downfall of their season, they are amongst the worst of the worst right now. If this teams play was not enough of an embarrassment for Chicago fans, the incident the other night with Devante Smith-Pelly and Blackhawks fans make this organization a real sh*t storm right now, it’s 2018 Chicago fans, leave your garbage comments out of this sport. Hope Senators blow them out of the water now after that incident, Sens are also 6-4-0 in their last ten, playing much better hockey. Matt Duchene is picking up his play, Senators offense is sort of clicking and Craig Anderson isn’t allowing six-plus goals anymore. See a nice road win out of Ottawa tonight.

Dallas Stars(34-21-4) vs Anaheim Ducks(30-20-11)

This a playoff battle, through and through the Ducks sit tied with L.A. for the three spot in the Pacific division, Dallas tied with St. Louis for the three spot in the Central. See this game going to overtime, a game down to the wire honestly, but without John Gibson, Ryan Miller gets the nod and tries to fend off the Stars high powered offense. The Ducks are coming off a huge 2-0 vs Vegas in Vegas, on a three-game winning streak and 5-3-2 in their last ten, coming off a four-game road trip, return home to a 15-9-4 record. Dallas is 13-12-3 on the road,6-4-0 in their last ten and coming off a terrible loss to San Jose, San Jose is not a terrible team but 5-2, cmon Dallas. I don’t see Anaheim slowing down and having the Stars come into their home arena and knocking them off their win streak, Miller in or not, going Anaheim.

Calgary Flames(30-21-9) vs Vegas Golden Knights(39-16-4)

Vegas has a chance to be the second team in the NHL to reach that 40 win mark and go u against one of the best road teams, luckily Vegas is 22-5-2 at home, but they did drop one to Anaheim at home the other night. Calgary is capable of coming in and winning this game, two points out of a playoff spot, coming off a tough overtime loss to Boston, the Flames are hungry. Perhaps Vegas took the foot off the gas recently a 6-4-0 in their last ten, dropping 2 of their last five home games and have been enjoying the home-ice advantage for the last two week. Vegas is a great team and so is Calgary, it will be an even matchup, these two have met one time prior to this and Vegas took it in Calgary 4-2, they meet two more times after this meeting but tonight I see Vegas winning it they have not dropped two in a row at home his season.

FREE NHL Picks: February, 15, 2018

Carolina Hurricanes(27-21-9) vs New Jersey Devils(28-20-8)

Both teams are in the final playoff spots among the Eastern Conference, but on team has climbed their way into the playoffs, as the other has slowly but surely drifted off the last week or so. The Devils are that team in the Metro struggling right now, without Corey Schneider the team is definitely missing the star goaltender, as they are 4-6-0 in their last ten, and prior to their shootout win vs Philadelphia they were on a four game losing streak. As the Hurricanes are on a three-game winning streak, one point behind the Devils for the first wildcard spot and 6-3-1 in their last ten. The Hurricanes have shown some impressive goal scoring and stringing together some wins as of late, a team that has bounced in and out of a playoff spot finds themselves with a crucial game at hand on the road. The Devils on home ice are 15-10-3, but more recently they have dropped four of their last six home games. As the Hurricanes are 12-12-4 on the road, playing in their first road game of the month, and first road game in eight games. I think this is going to be a nail bitter, down to the wire, possible overtime, or I could be wrong and Carolina comes out firing, guns a blazing and a solid road win. First road game in a while could be a factor but Devils do not worry me, especially with Kinkaid in net. This will also be the first of four meetings between the two, as they play three times over the next three weeks(also play again in Carolina February 18). Tonight I am running with Carolina, gut decision, see this young team battling all game.

Los Angeles Kings(30-21-5) vs Pittsburgh Penguins(32-22-4)

Pittsburgh second half schedule has definitely favored them in a sense, playing six of their last ten games at home, and since the second half this team has been on fire. They are now three points behind Washington for the division lead and welcome a pissed off Kings team that dropped 7-3 to Carolina Tuesday night. The Penguins offense has been fueled by a list of guys chipping in now but mostly the Hart nominee Phil Kessel, Malkin and Crosby doing their superstar like stuff. The Kings have been a streaky since their hot start and do not worry me one bit heading into Pittsburgh tonight. They are on a two-game losing streak, 6-4-0 in their last ten and battling for a playoff spot. The Kings are three points out of a playoff spot, as Minnesota holds the last spot(68 points) and they play Washington tonight, perhaps the Kings take this game with Minnesota going up against a tough opponent. Kings have to be a little pissed after losing by four goals last game. The Kings 16-12-2 road record will be put to the test against the Penguins 21-7-1 home record. Sticking with the Penguins tonight.

Detroit Red Wings(23-23-9) vs Tampa Bay Lighting(38-16-3)

I don’t know if this is part of the Lightnings plan to slow down and cool off early on before the playoffs start but a loss to Buffalo Tuesday night, raises some eyebrows for sure. The Lightning most certainly have not been as great as they were a month ago. Over the last the Lightning are 6-4-0, on a two-game losing streak, going against a team they have played three times already, all in which they have won. It concerns me because who knows, Detroit has nothing to play for but pride right now, so they come out and mix things up, punch the Lighting in the face early on and catch them on their heels, Buffalo did it literally two nights ago. Hopefully Lighting learn from their mistake to not take any opponent lightly and come out firing here. Detroit is 5-3-2 in their last ten coming off a win vs Anaheim on the road. Tough one, a lot harder of a decision than it should be, going Lightning though. They have to win, no?

Washington Capitals(32-17-7) vs Minnesota Wild(31-19-6)

This is going to be a great game, two teams that are similar in nature, similar in records and both playing very good hockey right now. The Wild are coming off a home win vs the Rangers as the Capitals are coming off a road loss to Winnipeg in overtime. The Capitals have been a very consistent team but some reporters have doubt in them, I read a headline the other day, “Are the Capitals as good as their record shows”, I don’t know but I think this team is balanced and playing with a little less pressure on their shoulders now. They have held the top seed in the Metropolitan division for almost the whole season and are looking to lock up that number seed some more with a win tonight. The capitals are 12-9-5 on the road, and go into the Excel Energy building against an extremely solid home team, as the Wild are 20-4-5 on home ice. We may be overlooking the Wild, but the Capitals for some reason I feel a win. I said this the other night about them and almost steered correct. The Wild barely beat the Rangers at home and the Capitals do not want to drop any more points with Pittsburgh on their tail. Going Washington tonight.

Anaheim Ducks(27-20-11) vs Chicago Blackhawks(24-25-8)

When things well in Chicago they are great but when things go bad, this team has no idea how to react and they are completely lost for answers right now. Waiving Jeff Glass, rumors of Joel Quennville being fired, and the team is now out of a playoff race. The Blackhawks are on a five-game losing streak, and I don’t think it gets any better tonight as the Ducks head to not so madhouse on Madison. The Ducks coming off a tough loss to Detroit need to capitalize against a struggling team to gain some traction in the playoff race, as they are three points behind Minnesota for the last wild card spot. The Ducks are 5-3-2 in their last ten with a 12-11-7 road record, as the Blackhawks are 2-6-2 and 12-12-3 at home. Two teams that are close in the standings but one team has some hope for the playoffs as the other not so much. I like Anaheim tonight to come in and take advantage of fragile, frustrated Chicago team. Going Anaheim.

Other games on tonight…

Rangers vs Islanders: PREVIEW COMING!!

Sabres vs Senators: Uhhh, do I have to pick? Your guess is as good as mine. Both teams are terrible but if I had to put my money on anyone it would be Buffalo.

Flames vs Predators: Predators

Canadiens vs Coyotes: Montreal in a back to back, Coyotes have been playing much better and on a two-game win streak, 5-4-1 in their last ten. Going Arizona.

Oilers vs Golden Knights: Golden Knights.

Canucks vs Sharks: Canucks in a back to back, San Jose rested, going San Jose.

Free NBA Picks for February 13th, 2018

9-6-1 over the past 6 days. 2 tonight.

Rockets -2.5 vs the Minnesota Timberwolves

Brooklyn Nets v Houston Rockets

The Rockets are 9-1 the last 10, the T-Wolves are 4-6. The Rockets have been on fire providing constant production between Chris Paul and James Harden. Gerald Green has been the spark plug that has kept the Rockets offense clicking when CP3 and Harden leave the court. The Rockets have heavy bench talent which provides the one up against many teams that don’t have a great bench.

The T-wolves are a great team, but the Rockets have been absolutely filthy. The T-Wolves have their best opportunity to take them down considering they are home.

The T-Wolves are 23-6 at home, going against the Rockets who are 20-7 on the road this season. The first meeting between these 2, the Rockets won by 18 at home. It should be way closer tonight, unless the Rockets get on a roll that not even Minnesota can stop. Take the spread, the value behind it is great considering the Rockets are 13-2 the last 15 games.

Bucks -7.5 vs the Atlanta Hawks

The Bucks are 8-2 the last 10. The Bucks have been red hot since dropping head coach Jason Kidd. The Hawks are coming off a come from behind W over the Magic where the Hawks seemed to piece it together in the last few minutes.

The Hawks are 4-6 the last 10.

The Bucks are expected to get back Jabari Parker.

Tonight the Bucks should destroy the Hawks. I can see this going the Bucks way the entire game. The Hawks won’t trail by more than 8 maybe until halftime. Then I can see the Greek “Freak” take over, dismantling the injury riddled Hawks team.

Go for the points, take the Bucks,. I say they win by 9 or 10.
