Top Picks For The Action Packed NHL Saturday Slate

Colorado Avalanche vs New York Islanders:

The Islanders are coming into this game favorites of course winning 7 of their last ten gams, earning a point in 9 of those 10 games and playing the five-game losing streak Avalanche, 2-7-1 and 12-12-4 record on the road. The Islanders should have no problem with this game. I do make it seem like the Islanders are going to walk into the Barclays having already won but I do believe they take this game tonight. Robin Lehner is the expected started who did earn January player of the month honors and is playing unbelievably right now. As the Avalanche have Semyon Varlamov in net who has not found his rhythm since coming back from injury. All in all the Islanders have a record of 14-3-2 in their last 19 games and have made history this season earning 32 points in 23-game span the first time since their cup run in 1981-82. The Avalanche on the other hand have lost 15 of their last 18 games and have allowed four or more goals in the past 13 of these games. The numbers are clear as day, as it may not be the home stadium Islander players would like but they are still on home ice and playing in front of a hungry Islanders crowd. I see the Islanders taking this one with ease.

Nashville Predators vs St. Louis Blues:

This is one of the better match ups tonight, the Blues started the first 30 games or so on the wrong end of things and were deemed one of the most disappointing teams this season. Well in recent weeks the have completely 360 their and are now in the first wild card spot. Coming off a shutout win vs Tampa Bay the Blues recent success has been backed by rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington who is making his seventh consecutive start today. The Blues are 8-2-1 in their last 11 games and Binnington is 8-1-1 with a 1.70 goals against in 10 starts this season. The Predators are on a three-game win streak right now and first match up vs St. Louis all year. The Predators go with Pekka Rinne today who is 5-1-1 in his last six games and 11-4-2 in his last 17 starts. The Blues are looking for their fifth straight win which could be possible on home-ice. We all look at this game as the Predators to be the clear winner but the Blues have been hot lately do not count this team out. I am going with Blues to win.

Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes:

This is not a game you expected to see on this slate but the Stars are looking to extend their point streak to seven games as the Coyotes are looking to end a five-game skid. The Coyotes are expected to go with Darcy Kuemper who is 11-13-5 on the year with a 2.78 goals against. The Stars are going with Anton Khudobin who started last game making 21 saves in their loss to Nashville. The Coyotes are 0-9-0 since March 24, 2016 vs the Stars and the Stars have already beat the Coyotes two times this season. The Stars need all the points they can get right now as the playoff race ensues. The star power of Dallas will need to continue to propel this team as Tyler Seguin has six points in four games and will look to continue his hot streak tonight. Tonight I am going Dallas.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Montreal Canadiens:

Game of the night probably. The Leafs lead the Canadiens by one point in the Atlantic, therefore if the Canadiens win this game they take second place by one point. Both teams come into this game on a three-game win streak the Canadiens though are 7-1-1 in their last ten games as the Leafs are 5-4-1. The Canadiens go with Carey Price who is 23-13-4 this season with a 2.52 goals against and Leafs Frederick Anderson who is 24-11-2 with a 2.56 goals against. The Leafs are 16-6-2 on the road this season as the Canadiens are 17-10-3 at home. The two have played each other one time this season already that resulted in a Leafs overtime win on October 3rd, 2018. This will be match up number two of four. The Leafs and Canadiens play each other one more time before February ends and then play one of the last games of the season vs each other. This will be a offensive filled game, we could see the over hit, and a possible 5-4, 4-3 match up. On home ice and the Canadiens recent streak, the Leafs get them one more time at home this season, Bell Centre will be rocking going Canadiens tonight.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Tampa Bay Lightning:

The Lightning are coming off a tough loss to St. Louis as are the Penguins who lost to Carolina 4-0. Both teams got shutout in their recent games which only means we can probably expect a 4-3 style game, power play action and a lot of offense. Very rarely do we see two of the best teams in the NHL score no goals and then go at it next time vs each other to be a 1-0, 2-1 game. The Lightning are two-game losing streak, 5-3-2 in their last ten and 20-5-2 on home ice this season. The Penguins are going through a rough patch right now as they are 3-6-1 in their last ten on a three-game losing streak and 13-9-5 on the road this season. The two have played each other two times already this year and the series is split at one a piece. Both games have resulted in 6+ goals, first game was 4-3 Tampa Bay and second game which came recently was Pittsburgh 4-2. We can expect a similar score tonight. The Lightning are expected to go with Andrei Vasilevskiy as the Penguins are probably going with Casey DeSmith following poor play of Matt Murray and his recent injury. The Penguins need a win here bad to get out of this funk. This is a tough one and I believe Penguins take a big one on the road.

Calgary Flames vs Vancouver Canucks:

The Flames are one of if not the best team in the NHL. They have been consistent all year and have seemed to take that Pacific division under control, although with the Sharks behind them by two points and playing the Oilers the Flames need these two points. The Flames are 7-2-1 in their last ten games have a 17-10-0 record in the road as the Canucks have dropped their last three and are 4-3-3 in their last ten with a 12-10-3 record at home. These two have played each other already three times this season and Vancouver has taken two of the three which means the Flames are not goin to lose the season series and will win this one (in my eyes). The previous three games resulted in a 5-2 Canucks win, 7-4 Flames win and 3-2 Canucks OT win. This probably means we can anticipate a 4-2 style game. The Flames are going with David Rittich in net who is 20-4-4 on the year with a 2.54 goals against as the Canucks go with Jacob Markstrom who is 20-15-6 on the year with a 2.81 goals against. Like I said I doubt the Flames drop two straight to the Canucks and essentially lose seasons series here tonight. Even on the road I am expecting a Flames win.

FREE NHL Picks: January 16, 2019

Colorado Avalanche vs Ottawa Senators

Things are getting a little better for Colorado at the moment, a big win vs Toronto was much needed for this team. A sure confidence boost, the Avalanche had success vs Toronto because their depth forwards had six points, Carl Soderberg had two goals, Matt Calvert had one, depth goes a long way. The Avalanche now head to Ottawa who are not playing well in their recent games (2-7-1) but also 11-9-4 at home. The Avalanche are 12-11-3 on the road and 2-6-2 in their last ten. They out match the Senators in most if not all areas of the game, goals, goals against, penalty kill, power play. The Avalanche are definitely favorited here and I’d expect a win out of them with how close the race in the Western Conference is right now. Every two points count. Colorado is -1.5 and -185 where Ottawa is +1.5 and +150, I’d go Colorado money line, puck spread too difficult to tell.

Buffalo Sabres vs Calgary Flames

Things are not getting easier for Buffalo at this point, they have been on a complete drought since their 10-game win streak. The Sabres are at the moment out of a wild card spot and slowly throwing their playoff hopes out the window. The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last ten on a three-game skid, 9-11-3 going up against a Calgary team who is on a five-game win streak, 8-1-1 in their last ten and 15-4-4 at home. I would be completely shocked if Buffalo win, if Buffalo wins this will also probably be the last picks article I write. I am going the house on Calgary tonight. Calgary is -1.5 and -240, Buffalo is +200 and +1.5. Calgary with David Rittich (not confirmed but likely) in net makes me feel better as well.

San Jose Sharks vs Arizona Coyotes

The Sharks have been rolling lately, defeating the Penguins 5-2 Tuesday night and on a seven-game win streak, 9-1-0 in their last ten but 11-9-3 on the road. Where as Arizona is 5-4-1 in their last ten coming off a loss and 8-12-2 at home. The Coyotes are no where near the Sharks skill level but they are also no easy match. They always give teams difficult games, while I like the Sharks here they are coming into this game on a back to back. From San Jose to Arizona is not crazy but it’s a back to back and teams do not perform well in these situations. I am still going San Jose but maybe not the puck spread, just San Jose straight up. Sharks are -155 and Coyotes are +135. Aaron Dell is in net for San Jose and Darcy Kuemper for Arizona (not confirmed).

Boston Bruins vs Philadelphia Flyers

The Bruins are coming into this game off an overtime loss to Montreal at the TD Garden, they need to get back in the win column as things are not easy in that Eastern Conference. The Flyers got a big game from James Van Reimsydk and Nolan Patrick vs Minnesota for their 7-4 win, don’t expect that again. The Bruins are 6-3-1 in their last ten and 10-9-4 on the road, where Philly is 2-7-1 in their last ten and 9-10-3 at home. The Bruins are my choice for tonight, one the road sure but the Flyers fans have given up on the team this year so it is not really much of a “home team advantage”. Bruins will handle the Flyers accordingly, I also could see them covering the puck spread. My risk of the night would be Bruins to cover -1.5 puck spread. They are -165 while Flyers are +135. Bruins all the way.

Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks

These teams are separated by zero points, the Oilers have one less game played but they both have 47 points. The Canucks with an even 21-21-5, Edmonton 22-21-3 very close in records and very close for a wild card spot. The Oilers are 4-6-0 in their last ten coming off a big win vs Buffalo the other night. Where Vancouver is 5-4-1 in their last ten coming off a big win vs Florida. The Canucks had two and a half days rest coming into todays game and the Oilers had a day and a half. The Oilers are 10-11-2 on the road vs Vancouver’s 10-9-2 home record. This game means a lot for both teams, as much as the Canucks did not anticipate on being here they still are going to do whatever they can to win. The Oilers are my team for tonight. They are also favored +1.5 goals to start both teams are -110 though. I am going Oilers and riding Mikko Koskinen in net.

Also note I have been on a losing streak myself with picks but feel pretty confident in every game tonight besides Colorado vs Ottawa. Minor set back to a big come back. 5-0 tonight let’s go.

NHL Picks: December 20th 2018

Anaheim Ducks vs Boston Bruins

The Bruins need these two a little more than the Ducks but the Ducks have been on quite the tear, despite losing a surprising one to the Rangers the other night. The Ducks have propelled into third place in the Pacific and are 8-2-0 in their last ten games. The Ducks rarely come to the East Coast and playing on the road is not a strong suit for the Ducks. They are 9-8-0 on the road and this will be their first meeting with the Bruins. The Ducks are not going to come into Boston and walk away with an easy win, they score the same amount of goals as Boston and allow basically the same. The Ducks score 2.53 goals per game, Boston scores 2.74 as the Ducks allow 2.81 goals per game and the Bruins allow 2.59 goals per game. This has all the signs of being a low scoring game. The Bruins still banged up, up front and the Ducks are as well but have a few plug in guys doing their job. This is going to be a tough game, Ducks have two more road games before returning home, they need two or at least one here tonight. Going, Ducks in overtime though.

Montreal Canadiens vs Arizona Coyotes

Is there any reason as to why we always force ourselves into believing the Coyotes are going to be different every year yet they are usually always the same team. Sure they are a little better this year but the Coyotes are not going to be a real tough opponent for many top teams. But a game like Montreal on home ice favors the Coyotes a little more. The Canadiens and Yotes are on a two-game skid, the Coyotes are 4-6-0 in their last ten and 6-9-1 on home ice and the Canadiens are 6-4-0 in their last ten and 7-6-3 on the road. The Coyotes score 2.45 goals per game vs the Coyotes 3.06 goals per game, the Coyotes allow 2.79 goals per game as the Canadiens allow 3.23 goals per game. With Antti Niemi in net for Montreal and Darcy Kemper getting back to back starts. I am going with Coyotes here tonight. Kuemper is going to play one of his best since coming back and the Coyotes play well on home ice. Going Yotes here.

New York Islanders vs Vegas Golden Knights

Both teams are playing pretty similar in their last ten but the Islanders are the better team right now, winning their last three games, the Islanders are 5-3-2 in their last ten and 9-7-2 on the road. As Vegas is 6-3-1 in their last ten and 10-3-1 at home. The Golden Knights last played the Islanders two weeks ago in which they won 3-2, which could mean two things. The Islanders win or Knights win the only two meetings between these two. The Islanders are getting some solid production from their depth guys right now as the Knights have Paul Statsny and Max Pacioretty back finally. The Golden Knights score 2.95 goals per game vs the Islanders 2.85 goals per game. As the two allow basically the same amount of goals against as well Vegas 2.81 vs Islanders 2.73. The Knights on home ice is tough to go against they are a very good home team and almost anytime you see Vegas home you know to go with Vegas. Sticking with the hot team though, going Islanders. Going to be low scoring, 2-1 Islanders here.

Minnesota Wild vs Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins are going on a back to back after playing a tough game vs Washington Wednesday night. The Wild are coming into tonight on a two-game losing streak and 3-7-0 in their last ten. The Wild are also 7-8-0 on the road as the Penguins are 6-3-1 in their last ten and 9-7-2 at home. The Penguins are coming into their full stride finally and it will not be pretty for the Eestern Conference. The Wild are struggling greatly and after the Penguins played a tough game vs Washington this would be the Wild’s best chance to jump on the Penguins early and get a big road win. The Wild have Pittsburgh one more time until the month ends, therefore I could see it being a win here for Minnesota and Pittsburgh take the game on December 31st in Minnesota. Going Wild tonight.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Calgary Flames

Two of the best teams in the NHL going head to head tonight. The Flames are 8-2-0 in their last ten and 11-3-2 on home ice this season as the Lightning are 9-0-1 in their last ten and 11-3-2 on the road this season. The Lightning score around 4.03 goals per game (1st) vs the Flames 3.49 goals per game (6th), the Flames do allow less goals at 2.69 goals per game (3rd) and the Lightning allow 2.83 goals per game (10th). Both power plays are top-10 in the league, Flames 22.6 percentage vs the Lightnings 29.5. Their penalty kills are also pretty solid although the Lightning’s is much better the Flames have a 79.8 percentage and Lightning have a 84 percentage pk. This is going to be the best game on tonight. This game will probably be decided in the final minutes of the game. Tonight the Flames are going with Mike Smith it seems and the Lightning are going with Andrei Vasilevskiy. This is the first meeting between the two this year, I am feeling the Lightning with a road win, but the Flames Mike Smith and that defense will do a good job shutting down the Lightning’s top guys. Going to be a low scoring game as long as it stays 5 on 5, feeling a Flames win.

Winnipeg Jets vs San Jose Sharks

The Jets dropped a tough in L.A. Tuesday night and now face a hot San Jose team. The Sharks are on a five-game win streak and looking to finally be the team we all expected them to be. The Jets are still the better team, 8-2-0 in their last ten vs the Sharks 7-3-0 record. The Jets though have a 9-6-0 road record and Sharks post a 11-3-2 home record. The Jets score around 3.56 goals per game (4th) and the Sharks score 3.31 goals per game (T8th), both allow around 2.8 goals per game. The big difference maker will be the Jets start, they started out slow vs L.A. Tuesday and they do that again and let San Jose capitalize early get an early lead we may see a San Jose win. The Jets have Vancouver to end the road trip and return home to Calgary and Minnesota until they end December in Edmonton. The Jets need this one because their schedule is not easy and this is a good confidence game here. I like the Jets to end the Sharks five-game win streak and hot home play. The Jets are playing Connor Hellebuyck (2.90 GAA, .908 SV percentage) again and Sharks go Martin Jones (2.81 GAA, .901 SV percentage). Going Jets here with a 4-3 road win.

Other games on tonight:

Nashville vs Philadelphia: Nashville.

Detroit vs Carolina: Unpredictable, no go for me.

Chicago vs Dallas: Dallas.

Florida vs Toronto: Toronto.

New Jersey vs Columbus: No go for me.

St. Louis vs Vancouver: Vancouver.

NHL Picks; November 27th 2018

San Jose Sharks vs Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres coming into this game at nine in a row vs a San Jose team that is 4-5-2 in their last ten coming off a loss in their last game. The Sabres are 8-2-0 at home. The Sabres score a near 3.04 goals per game while the Sharks score 3.13 goals per game. The Sharks are in the middle of pack in terms of goals against with 3, as the Sabres an almost league best 2.75 goals per game. The Sabres are home here and for some reason the Sabres are +1.5 goal spread, and +105 as the Sharks are -125 it is essentially a push on the money line but the spread looks great, it does not pay out much but I could realistically see the Sabres winning 10 straight and then the magic runs out next game. Plus Carter Hutton in net gives me a little more confidence for Buffalo. Buffalo money line or spread.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Montreal Canadiens

This is another good game the Hurricanes are under dogs here as the Canadiens are home and favorites. It makes sense sure but the Hurricanes are no walk in the park. They are 5-4-1 in their last ten as the Canadiens are on a four-game skid and 3-4-3 in their last ten. Both are not great at home nor on the road. The Canadiens average around 3.08 goals for vs Carolina’s 2.7 goals and Hurricanes 2.83 goals allowed vs Montreal’s 3.38 a near league worst. Carey Price (7-6-4, 3.16 GAA) draws in net vs Curtis McElhinney (6-2, 2.25 GAA). The story line tonight is Shea Weber draws in the line up for the first time in what feels like forever, perhaps the veteran defenseman rallies the troops but with the Hurricanes +1.5 and -105 and the Canadiens -1.5 and -115, I like the Hurricanes spread or moneyline. Go Hurricanes.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers

A shaken up Edmonton bench, new head coach, team not producing that great already and things are looking to be going a little south in Edmonton. The Stars are a tough team to read they are hot and cold too often, they were off to a decent run last week and then slowed down in their last few games. They are coming off a lose and 4-5-1 in their last ten and 4-7-1 on the road. But the Oilers are not much better as they are 2-7-1 in their last ten and 4-4-1 on home ice and on a two-game skid. The Stars score around 2.83 goals for to an Edmonton 2.78 goals for as the Oilers allow 3.3 goals and Stars allow 2.75. Tonight Cam Talbot and Anton Khudobin both goalies have above a 3.00 goals against and .905 save percentage or lower. The over is a good possibility tonight but since it is six for some reason(two low scoring teams) I’d stick to money line or spread. The Stars are +1.5 and +115 as the Oilers are -135 and -1.5, the Oilers are not going to come into this game and win easy. Stars money line.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Chicago Blackhawks

The Golden Knights are starting to string together some wins now and have found themselves sprung into the number three seed in the Pacific with a bad Pacific division right now if the Knights keep this up they could easily find themselves in the playoffs once again. As the opposite goes for the Blackhawks they are in a tough Central division and in 6th place right now. They are 3-5-2 in their last ten and 5-3-3 on home ice Chicago, as the Golden Knights are 6-4-0 in their last ten and 5-9-0 on the road. They are on a three game win streak. The Blackhawks and Vegas score around the same amount of goals per game at 2.70 goals per game, the Hawks allow 3.38 goals and Vegas allows a near league low of 2.76 goals. I like the Blackhawks at +1.5 spread but the Golden Knights spread at -120, ultimately I think this is going to be a close game, down to the wire. Going Blackhawks spread here.

Los Angeles Kings vs Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are struggling greatly in their last ten with just two wins and a record of 2-7-1, they are 5-4-0 on home ice as the Kings are 4-6-0 in their last ten with a 3-6-0 on the road. The Kings are going wit Peter Budaj who is 0-1 with a 5.00 goals against on the year. The Kings score around a league worst of 2.17 goals for and allow a near league worst 3.22 as the Canucks score a league average of 2.92 goals for and allow a near league worst of 3.58 goals. This is going to be another tough game to read both teams are not the greatest nor playing well. Budaj in net gives me a little insurance that the Canucks could win it but Budaj can also play a great game. With the Kings -1.5 and -115 as the Canucks are +1.5 and -105, I’d probably go Canucks spread or money line, I think Canucks take this game either way.

Other games on tonight:

Ducks vs Lightning: Lightning (-255)

Coyotes vs Wild: Wild (-185)

Avalanche vs Predators: Predators (-160) (or stay away)

Penguins vs Jets: Jets (-145) (or stay away)

Parlay options of the night

Canucks, Stars, Sabres (option 1)

Sabres, Stars, Lightning (option 2)

Lightning, Wild, Sabres (option 3)

Stars, Wild, Lightning (option 4)

NHL Picks: November 26th 2018

Ottawa Senators vs New York Rangers

The Rangers are coming off loses vs the Capitals and the Flyers. They are 6-3-1 in their last ten and 9-4-0 at home. This the first time on the year the two will face off, last time the Senators and Rangers played was February 17th, 2018. The Senators are one a two-game skid, 4-5-1 in their last ten and 2-7-1 on the road. The Senators average around 3.61 goals for which is the 3rd most in the league while the Rangers score just 2.79 goals for the 23rd most in the league. The Senators do allow 4.35 goals against a league worst as the Rangers allow 3.08 goals against. The Senators have the worst penalty kill in the league as the Rangers have the 19th best power play (19.7 percent). This will be a game where Henrik Lundqvist gets back in net and Craig Anderson will attempt to bring his goals against down to a respectable rate(3.91). Tonight with the Rangers at home and -1.5 while the Senators are +1.5 struggle on the road, with a decent money line on the Rangers and over/under of six. I’d go money line Rangers.

Boston Bruins vs Toronto Maple Leafs

With the Bruins banged up and the Maple Leafs at home it seems like this is a no-brainer for many fans around the league. The Leafs are without Auston Matthews still but the Bruins are without four of their top defenseman, and Patrice Bergeron. In Patrick Marleau’s 1,600th career game the Leafs are going to come out buzzing. The Leafs are 7-5 on home ice and 7-3-0 in the last ten. The Bruins are on a two-game win streak and 6-2-2 in their last ten with a 5-4-4 away record. The Bruins average 2.83 goals for compared to Toronto’s 4 goals for a game. The Bruins allow 2.39 goals against vs Toronto’s 2.59 goals against. This is going to be a barn burner, two teams with a long history dating back to the 1900’s. These two meet four times a year and it always turns out to be a game to remember. The last time they played was earlier this month when the Bruins won 5-1. Toronto is -160 with a -1.5 spread, the over/under is 5.5, I’d probably say go Bruins money line. Spread will be tough and over is likely to hit also.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Detroit Red Wings

The last time these two played was October 30th where the Red Wings came out on top 5-3. This means the Blue Jackets will probably take this one on the road too. The Blue Jackets are 7-4-1 on the road and 6-2-2 in the last ten as the Red Wings are 6-3-1 in their last ten and 6-4-2 on home ice. Just based on how every point matters and the Blue Jackets want to stay in the top of the Metro I doubt they drop two games to Detroit this year. The Blue Jackets score 3.35 goals for (10th) and the Red Wings score 2.65 goal for (28th) as the Blue Jackets allow 3.13 goals against and the Red Wings allow 3.09 goals against. The Blue Jackets can clearly score the only way the Red Wings win here is if they score another 5 goals, I doubt we see Bobrovsky who has been playing much better and allow 5 goals up on his recent solid play. Tonight with the Blue Jackets -155 and -1.5 spread with a over/under of 5.5. I’d be fine with sticking money line again on the Jackets.

Washington Capitals vs New York Islanders

The Islanders and Capitals always make a great match up. This is the first of four matchups between the two. The last time these two played was last season March 16th. The Capitals are starting to string together some wins and gain some more confidence, as the Islanders are slowing down a bit. This could be a big confidence game for the Islanders. On the year the Islanders are 6-2-2 on home ice and also 5-4-1 in their last ten as the Capitals are 6-4-1 on the road and 7-3-0 in their last ten. The Capitals are on a five-game win streak and I think they keep rolling tonight. The Capitals average around 3.43 goals and allow 3.13 goals against as the Islanders allow 2.86 goals and score 3.18 goals for. Both teams can score and we will see a lot of goals tonight, I think the over is a great idea. Also the Capitals power play is 5th in the league as the Islanders penalty kill is middle of the pack. With the Capitals -110 and given 1.5 goals to start the spread is a great idea tonight. Capitals spread for sure.

New Jersey Devils vs Florida Panthers

Both teams are on a losing streak they need to snap out of and only one team can win here tonight. These two usually see each other two to three times a year and have played one time this season already where the Devils won 3-2. The Panthers are 8th in the Atlantic as the Devils are 8th in the Metropolitan division. The Devils are 3-5-2 in their last ten and 2-9-0 on the road averaging 2.95 goals for and allowing 3.27 goals against on the year. The Panthers are 3-3-2 on home ice and 5-4-1 in their last ten, dropping their last three games. The Panthers score around 3.24 goals for and allow 3.62 goals against behind the Senators for the league’s worst. James Reimer will hold the pipes tonight as Robert Luongo is out for now, Keith Kinkaid gets the nod once again as he begins to take over number one duties in New Jersey. With the Panthers -140 and -1.5 spread, I’d probably either stay away from this game or go Panthers money line. Don’t feel too hot about the over here tonight, but see the Panthers getting a win on home ice tonight.

Three team money line parlay:

  • Jackets, Leafs, Rangers (parlay option one)
  • Jackets, Leafs, Panthers (parlay option two)
  • Jackets, Leafs, Capitals (parlay option three)

NHL PICKS; BEST PICKS NOV.8TH

Vancouver Canucks(9-6-1) vs Boston Bruins(8-4-2)

The Bruins are coming into this game for their second home game of the week as the Canucks stay on the road coming from Detroit. Vancouver dropped a tough game to Detroit in a shootout, least they got a point. Tonight I do not foresee the Canucks having the same luck as Tuesday. The Bruins are one of the more defensively sound teams in the league the Canucks have been successful due to their 3 goals per game, 8th ranked shooting percentage and almost20 percent power play. I see the Bruins playing a solid game here tonight only allowing one game to Dallas Tuesday and with a hot Jaroslav Halak in net the Bruins are the better team all around here and I think they take this one easy. This game looks like the Bruins have to cover a 1.5 goal spread, -240 and over/under of 5.5. My advice is either stay away from the game or go money line. Not much value in this game but the Bruins are going to win and the game will be close. Maybe the under.

Edmonton Oilers(8-6-1) vs Florida Panthers(3-5-3)

The Panthers are starting their three-game home stand after returning to the US from their Global Series games. The Panthers are not off to a great start they have struggled to be consistent, hold leads and get much offensive production going. While they do rank 3rd in shots on goal with 34.8 they also rank 27th in shooting percentage(8.6) on top of that they allow 3.55 goals per game and take near the most penalties in the game. Very inconsistent to start, as Edmonton is a capable of 3 goals a game, and has one of the more efficient power plays, it will be Florida staying out of the box and capitalizing on the chances they are given. I see this game being an under type of game, the Oilers are coming off a loss to Tampa Bay Tuesday as the Panthers have not played since last week. Low scoring game in my eyes, Panthers take the edge here though. Lines look like Panthers are covering a 1.5 goal spread (no), -125 and over/under of 6, going under for sure and Panthers.

Arizona Coyotes(7-6-0) vs Philadelphia Flyers(7-7-1)

Usually I would over look this game and not go with it but these two teams play out to be a good match up the Coyotes are hot right now although losing their last game to the Flyers except the roles have reversed and the Flyers are home this time. The Coyotes also have Antti Raanta on the IR so Darcy Kuemper gets the load of starts now until he is back. The Flyers goaltending is well the Flyers, this will be an under type of game I think. The Flyers scored 5 last game on this team and the over hit, turn around three days later and I can’t see either team scoring each 3 goals, I see this being a 3-2 game. I am also leaning towards the Yotes here…

New York Islanders(8-4-2) vs Tampa Bay Lightning(11-3-1)

The Islanders get a good test tonight in one of the best teams in the NHL as the Islanders have been hot from the start they play a team that can end their streak and bring them down to earth. Yet they can’t be overlooked, the Devils came in just a week ago to Tampa and scored five on them, which the Islanders can do the same. Tonight the Lightning are going with Andrei Vasilevskiy who has a 1.98 goals against and has allowed more than 3+ goals only two times this year. The Islanders Robin Lehner seems to be healthy and ready to be back for tonight. Which worries me a little although he was not sidelined for a while, first game back against a very good offensive team that scores around 3.6 goals per game and throws 34.6 shots on net per game. Lehner will have hands full, I am going with the Lightning here. Tough one but Lightning home ice seems to never be a bad choice. Lightning are to cover a 1.5 goal spread, -220 money line and over/under six. Probably go money line or spread.

San Jose Sharks(8-4-3) vs Dallas Stars(8-6-1)

For some reason I look at this game and I see overtime or past regulation. I think this will be a competitive back and forth game, there will be no one team dominating and the goaltender keeping them in net. The Stars are coming off a tough loss in Boston as the Sharks are coming off a big win vs Minnesota. Both are playing pretty good hockey right now and both could use some momentum with a win tonight. It will be a low scoring game, both Martin Jones and Ben Bishop draw in the net for tonight, plus both teams are pretty solid defensively only allowing 2.6 goals per game and around 30 shots or less on net per game, they defend well and both seem to score only 3 goals per game or less. I see the under in this game hitting, I think we see a 2-1, 3-2 overtime game.

Minnesota Wild(8-4-2) vs Los Angeles Kings(5-8-1)

The Kings are coming off a big win vs Anaheim Tuesday night as the Wild are coming off a loss to San Jose and stay on the road to play L.A. for another Western Conference battle. The Wild have been a very solid team this year, defending well, getting good goaltending and scoring around 3 + goals per game. The Kings on the other hand have trouble scoring and defending this year. This is a game the Wild need to win because they play Friday night as well and they drop all three on this West Cost road trip, not a good sign for the team. I see the Wild winning big here, over under is 5.5 and they are giving a 1.5 goal spread to start but -115 money line. Over and spread for tonight.

Other games on tonight:

Vegas vs Ottawa: Vegas needs a win, here’s their chance to get it.

Carolina vs Chicago: First game under new head coach for Chicago, on home ice. I like Chicago.

Buffalo vs Montreal: Tough, stay away.

NHL PICKS; TOP NHL PICKS NOV.6TH

Montreal Canadiens(8-4-2) vs New York Rangers(6-7-1)

The Canadiens are on a back to back for their New York area road trip. After coming back 3-1 to beat the Islanders 4-3 in a shootout Monday night. The Canadiens and their 2nd place record now gives this team a whole new set of confidence. It will for sure be tough to go back to back but the travel is not long for the Canadiens and the Rangers are a young, struggling team trying to find their identity right now. The Canadiens are most likely going with Carey Price tonight also as Antti Niemi started Monday night. As Henrik Lundqvist is set to start for the Rangers. These two teams have been pretty good over their last ten, the Canadiens are 6-3-1 in their last ten as the Rangers are 5-4-1 on a three-game win streak. I think this will be a close game, with the Canadiens playing back to back and Rangers not being a consistent offensive team. Set to be a low scoring game. The Rangers are 4-3 on home ice as the Canadiens are 3-1-2 on the road. Tonight, unpopular but going the Rangers.

Vegas Golden Knights(6-7-1) vs Toronto Maple Leafs(9-5-0)

The Golden Knights have not started out the way many expected nor coach Gerard Gallant would like to. The Golden Knights are 7th in the division right now, one game below .500 and beginning their four game road trip with Toronto. The Golden Knights are 2-5 on the road this season as well as 5-4-1 in their last ten. The Leafs are 6-4-0 in their last ten and have been struggling without Auston Matthews, there is no timetable for Matthews return right now but the Leafs seem to need him. The Leafs are 3-5-0 on home ice and with the Atlantic pretty tight right now and struggling over the last two weeks, this is going to be a game the Leafs must win. With both Marc Andre Fleury and Frederick Anderson in net, both starters will be on their best as they have all season. Anderson has a 2.28 goals against (GAA) and Fleury has a 2.51 GAA, we could see a low scoring game for sure. Choice here tonight, Leafs.

Dallas Stars(8-5-1) vs Columbus Blue Jackets(7-6-1)

The Stars have been playing pretty decent over their last ten and are now coming into tonight off a game Monday night in which they lost 2-1 in overtime. This is bizarre schedule for Dallas, they go from on the road in Boston to Columbus in less than twenty-four hours. That is a nightmare of traveling, and going to be tough to shake off the tired legs. The Blue Jackets are coming into this game on a two-game losing streak, 4-5-1 in their last ten and their last game was a mess. They allowed two short handed goals in their loss to the Kings but with two days rest they should be good to go. With projected Ben Bishop and Sergei Bobrovsky in net, it could go either way. Either a high scoring game or low scoring. Bishop has a 2.32 GAA while Bobrovsky has a 3.33 GAA, well see what Bob we get in net tonight. The Stars are going to be exhausted that is for sure, the Blue Jackets should take advantage of the Stars terrible schedule and jump on them early. Going with Columbus tonight.

New Jersey Devils(6-5-1) vs Ottawa Senators(5-6-3)

The Devils are going from Pittsburgh to Ottawa in a days notice and this will be an interesting game. After beating the Penguins 5-1 fueled by Brain Boyles hattrick hopefully Nico Hischier and Taylor Hall have something left in the tank to help the Devils stay in the win column. The Senators are now on a two-game losing streak and the locker room is probably in shambles after the video that was released yesterday about the team(more to come after this article). The Senators are on a two-game losing streak, 4-2-2 on home ice vs the Devils 1-5-0 record on the road. The Devils should be going with Corey Schneider and the Senators to go with Craig Anderson. The Devils are traveling a long ways, but I still think they take this game the Senators atmosphere is probably a mess right now. Devils with the under.

Carolina Hurricanes(6-6-2) vs St. Louis Blues(4-5-3)

The Hurricanes are coming into St. Louis on four-game losing streak, 3-6-1 in their last ten and 3-3-1 on the road. As the Blues are 3-4-1 on home ice, 4-4-2 in their last ten and having dropped their last game Saturday vs Minnesota. The Blues are doing all they can to stay in the mix of things in the Western Conference they are seeing some great production from Ryan O’Reilly and David Perron but again their goaltending has been shaky. Jake Allen has a 3.99 GAA and .879 save percentage. Their defense is at fault as well but they should be a team that plays all areas of the game well with the line up they have. I think the Hurricanes come in and make it competitive but the Blues get a much needed victory.

Minnesota Wild(8-3-2) vs San Jose Sharks(7-4-3)

The Wild have been an absolute wagon as of late, every time I go against them they prove me wrong. The Wild are coming into San Jose, 2nd in the Central and on a two-game winning streak. The Wild and Sharks are two high scoring teams they both average above 3 goals a game, above 30 shots on net, both power plays are at around 18.3 % to 21 percent, both allow less than 2.9 goals a game, less than 30 shots on net per game and penalty kills are neck and neck at around 85 percent. Two very similar teams, the Wild are seeing Devan Dubnyk at his best as well with a 2.07 GAA and .937 save percentage. This will be a low scoring, goalie battle. Both teams can score and defend and both goalies are very good. Tonight, I see Sharks getting a big win against a good team.

Other games on tonight:

Edmonton Oilers(8-4-1) vs Tampa Bay Lightning(10-3-1):

Going Lightning, Oilers back to back, Lightning are just a better team plus rested and on home ice. Lightning for sure.

Vancouver Canucks(9-6-0) vs Detroit Red Wings(4-8-2):

Canucks continue the hot streak.

Anaheim Ducks(6-6-3) vs Los Angeles Kings(4-8-1):

Worries me a ton both teams are lost right now and struggling. Going Kings though first game with interim head coach, going to play big while odds are against them.
