What Is The Trade Market For Antonio Brown?

So it seems, Antonio Brown is 100% on the next bus out of Pittsburgh. Brown has been very vocal on Twitter and Instagram. He held an Instagram live video the other day and has been pretty active on Twitter voices his opinions on why he wants out in Pittsburgh and the whole situation.

Now with that said. What is the market for Antonio Brown? Clearly he is going to be traded, clearly teams are going to be interested in him. But, what will teams be looking to give the Steelers for the top, if not the best pass-catching WR in the NFL.

I would have to assume based of Antonio Browns numbers from last year and his career he will cost a first round pick (or two) if it is not two first round picks it would probably be a 1st, 3rd, high-level prospect (someone like a JuJu) and another offensive player.

Browns recent seasons:

Some teams that are 100% going to be in the market when the time comes are the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns the reason these are the top teams right now because they have the most cap space and with the addition of Antonio Brown a team will have to be ready to fork over a hefty contract for Brown.

If and when Brown does get traded can we except a trade that would look like:

  • Two 1st round picks, a 3rd round pick, a young top-prospect WR and a WR2/WR3

As of now there is nothing that is being rumored around Brown about where he is going and what the offer sheet is but this is just speculation.

NFL Thursday Night Football; Who will extend their win streak, Carolina vs Pittsburgh

My favorite part about this game is that one, it is actually a solid Thursday night game, the last four weeks have been absolutely terrible. But the predictions and story lines leading into this game are always so awesome. Today on ESPN First Take (I believe) Stephen A Smith and the crew were talking about what team has the best chance to make it the Super Bowl? Like what a terrible story line jeez? That is what you come up with for this game? And these guys have been reporters for years now, we wonder why sports journalism is not the greatest. This story line sucks because neither of them are getting there and the reporters know it but they know people will watch that story line.

A REAL Storyline; Who will extend their streak? Christian McCaffrey vs James Conner?

This is going to be a great game, and a game that has a lot on the line. The Panthers are heading into Pittsburgh who are on a four-game win streak, and coming off a big win on the road vs Baltimore last week. As the Panthers are chasing the Saints tail playing every game like it is do or die, on a three-game win streak and have a big test in front of them.

Panthers vs Steelers in the air…

  • Cam Newton this season has thrown for 1,893 yards averaging 236.6 yards per game with 15 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He has a QB rating of 100.8 a completion percentage of 67.3 and is 177/268 through eight games this season.
  • Big Ben has throw for 2,560 yards, averaging 320 yards a game, 16 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, he has a QB rating of 93.9 and a completion percentage of 64.5. On the year Big Ben has attempted 344 passes completing 222.

Panthers wide receivers;

The Panthers do not rank up nearly as well as Pittsburgh with deep threats JuJu Smith Schuster and Antonio Brown it will be a mess covering the field with those two out there. Brown is a clear top receiver in the league, just him alone will keep the Panthers secondary’s hands full. Looking at the Panthers top receivers, they do not have the numbers like Brown and Smith-Schuster. Although the Panthers seem to spread the ball out more evenly, Smith-Schuster and Brown still out perform the Panthers top four receivers.

  • Devin Funchess who has 36 receptions for 445 yards and 3 touchdowns
  • D.J. Moore has 19 receptions for 297 yards
  • Greg Olsen has 18 receptions for 218 yards and 3 touchdowns
  • Torrey Smith has 16 receptions for 171 yards and 2 touchdowns (OUT)
  • Christian McCaffrey has 49 receptions for 378 yards and 2 touchdowns

Steelers wide receivers;

  • Antonio Brown 51 receptions 594 yards, 11.65 yards a catch and 9 touchdowns
  • JuJu Smith Schuster 53 receptions 672 yards, 12.68 yards a catch and 2 touchdowns
  • Vance McDonald 26 receptions, 346 yards, 13.31 yards a catch and 1 touchdown
  • Ryan Switzer 16 receptions, 88 yards, 5.5 yards a catch and 1 touchdown
  • Total: 146 receptions, 1,700 yards, 13 touchdowns

Panthers vs Steelers on the ground;

This may an area where Carolina has the edge, although James Conner and Christian McCaffrey are honestly very similar players, looking at McCaffrey’s numbers to Conner’s. Conner does edge out McCaffrey in total yards but McCaffrey has the edge in the receiving department and also compared to Conner’s 151 carries to McCaffrey’s 109, Conner has 702 yards vs McCaffrey’s 502, they both average around 4.6 yards a game but Conner blows McCaffrey out of the water with 9 rushing touchdown to his three. This will Conner’s first really big test going up against another prominent running back, has made a name for himself now, big stage. A Panthers rush offense that ranks 2nd, their offense in general does a job managing the clock. Either way this is a big game for Conner.

  • Christian McCaffrey 109 carries, 502 yards, 4.61 yards per carry, 3 rushing touchdowns
  • CJ Anderson 22 carries, 105 yards, 4.7 yards per carry
  • Steelers; James Conner 151 carries, 702 yards, 4.7 yards per carry, 9 rushing touchdowns
  • Stevan Ridley 10 carries, 30 yards, 3 yards a carry

Who comes out on top?

This may shock some but I think Carolina pulls one of their a** here and takes on in Pittsburgh, they seem to be gelling on offense lately, while their defense has not been all that great, they have the offensive fire power to keep up with the Steelers. Both these defenses are not great and it will be interesting to see this shootout tonight. I don’t know clearly the Steelers are the better team and at home, but Panthers I feel come in and make a statement here.

NFL Week 2 Takeaways: Ryan Fitzpatrick won the MVP of 2018 already, Jaguars get revenge on Patriots and Browns kicker is in hiding

We will address the more important headlines first. The three in the title and one I left out, Pittsburgh Steelers and the curse of Le’Von Bell. Let’s get into it…

RYAN FITZPATRICK, again!? Opens the day with a 75-yard bomb to Desean Jackson to put the defending Super Bowl Champs on their heels and it did not stop there. Fitzpatrick threw for a total of 4 touchdowns and 402 yards. As of now Ryan Fitzpatrick is the glaring MVP, obviously early but still c’mon this is nuts. To put up 402 yards against one of the best defenses in the league, the Super Bowl Champs. It seems there is something new going on in Tampa Bay. Through two games Fitzpatrick has 819 yards and 8 touchdowns….

The Steelers man, what the hell is going on? Their defense used to be their focal point of the team, it has been a disaster in Pittsburgh these last two weeks. I am not sure about what I am about to say but this has to be the worst start the Steelers have seen in the last 10 years. The Steelers got dogged around by Patrick Mahomes all day today, they allowed 326 yards in the air and 6 touch downs. The Steelers offense is not to worry here, even without Le’Von Bell it is not as if their offense has been the reason for their failures. It is glaring that their defense has been the biggest blunder in the last 2 weeks, not saying it is time to panic in Pittsburgh but it may be time to panic.

New England vs Jacksonville week 2
Blake Bortles throws for 377 yards and 4 touchdowns in revenge win vs New England during week two.

Jaguars come out slinging and hold on! This is a major win for the Jaguars, after losing to New England in the AFC Championship last year, you knew this team had this has game circled from the moment it came on their calendar. Blake Bortles threw for 377 yards and four touchdowns while the surprising Jags player was wide receiver Keelan Cole who reeled in 7 catches for 116 yards and one touchdown. The story of this game is the Jaguars defense, when both the offense and defense are clicking it is clear this team is one of the best in the league. The Jaguars were able to hold Brady to 234 yards and 2 touchdowns, that is a win in itself. The Jaguars defense is going to be their strong suit all year, they attacked Brady from the start and never stopped. It was evident that by the Jaguars exploiting the Patriots o-line and getting pressure on Brady allowed them to win this game, of course they also have the BOAT Blake Bortles.

Cleveland man, good gosh, you have to feel for this team. Their defense has legitimately been a top performing d in the league at the moment. They held Drew Brees to 243 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Browns defense has been GOOD, this is a new Browns team. They have not ever crumbled or given up at any point in this game or this year. Even with 10 seconds left they were charging down the field. Tyrod Taylor had 246 yards today and 1 touchdown, one bad interception and mistake but it is really evident that the Browns really are a different team but with the same luck. Because, Zane Gonzalez should probably not come back to Cleveland anytime soon. Missing THREE kicks, TWO extra points and the game winning field goal. If he is back in Cleveland for Thursday vs the Jets I’ll be shocked. Also have to be worried if you are the Saints losing to Tampa Bay last week terribly and now barely beating Cleveland it seems if it is not Michael Thomas or Alvin Kamara the Saints have nothing on offense.

Pittsburgh Steelers: NFL Preview 2017-18, Weak Schedule, Depth at WR

Next Preseason game Saturday, August 26 vs Indianapolis Colts 7:30 P.M.

Current Preseason 2017 record 2-0

Win vs Atlanta 17-13 & Win vs Giants 23-20

 Pittsburgh Steelers 2017-2018 Prediction: 10-6

Is there somewhere out there that ranks NFL teams schedules? If not, then I’ll tell you right now the Steelers definitely have a favorable schedule, on the easier, per se. Ending and opening the season up with Cleveland are two sure wins. Then the next eight weeks they play two teams that pose a threat, Kansas City, and Baltimore, which are still possible wins. After their bye week, they face the Packers and Patriots, only two threats on their whole schedule. But it’s no surprise the Steelers have a chance to win 12 games and a minimum of 10 games next season.

With an offense led by big-old, battered up Big Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers look to again make a deep playoff run. Roethlisberger, despite being 35-years-old and out of his “prime” continues to be the backbone to this teams success. With a ton of depth at the wide out position, on top Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell star power. These two are top players in the NFL, it can’t hurt to have them both causing headaches for opposing defenses throughout the season. The Steelers always play a consistent defensive game also(great fantasy defense option if you need a consistent 5-8 points a week), with a defense led by Stephen Tuitt on the offensive line, and a linebacker core of  Ryan Shazier and James Harrison, and a secondary of Sean Davis, the defense supports the offense quite well. The Steelers only managed to give up 68 rushing yards per game, ranking 4th among NFL teams(2016).

I think it’s fair to say Pittsburgh will handle their own and glide into the playoffs and even possibly win the division, the Steelers will be left right where they left off last season just this team and Steeler fans hope to see a win in the Conference Championships. Despite the obvious, some players on the offensive side and defensive side that will make a major impact for Pittsburgh next season are:

WATCH OUT FOR Martavis Bryant, after his suspension is up Bryant will more than likely serve a WR2 option, and Bryant has shown some great strides this preseason and hopes to make an impact after serving his suspension.

WATCH OUT FOR Sammie Coates, with Bryant suspended, Coates will be an undervalued WR for Steelers. Coates can still fly and be a solid WR2/WR3 option while Bryant is out.

WATCH OUT FOR Artie Burns: Burns had 52 total tackles, 3 interceptions during his first year with Pittsburgh, with a ton of tools on this defense, Burns will be an emerging CB to keep an eye this season as he will be a big part of the Steelers defense.
