NHL Picks For NHL Wednesday Rivalry Night

Chicago Blackhawks vs Detroit Red Wings: NBCSN 7:30PM

The Blackhawks have won now 12 of their last 14 games, are 8-2-0 in their last ten coming off an 8-7 win vs Ottawa and 11-15-3 on the road this season. As the Red Wings are playing .500 style hockey in yet another rebuild year. The Red Wings are 5-4-1 in their last ten coming off a lose to Philadelphia Sunday night and 12-14-4 at home this season. The Blackhawks recent success has been off the backs of Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Alex Debrincat the trio continue to produce and make this Blackhawks team a successful team. Kane heads into Detroit on a 18-game point streak and 40 points in those 18 games. Toews has 10 goals and 8 assists in the last 11 games, Debrincat has 8 goals, 13 assists in the last 11 games, therefore we can assume if the Red Wings do not slow these three guys down they are not winning. The Red Wings are going with Jimmy Howard (likely), Howard is 2-3 in his last five starts with 12 goals against. The Blackhawks goalie seems to be Cam Ward who was brought into the mess vs Ottawa the other night and will look to quickly rebound from that massacre. The last time these two played on February 10th the Blackhawks won 5-2, this is the last time these two will play and I am going with Chicago here.

Winnipeg Jets vs Colorado Avalanche:

The Jets have dropped their last two games and are 5-3-2 in their last ten games, they have a 15-12 record on the road this season. With yet another Blues win vs Toronto Tuesday night the Jets are only seven points ahead of the Blues. The Avalanche are coming off a big win vs the Golden Knights Monday night. The Av’s though are 2-5-3 in their last ten and 11-12-5 at home this season. The Jets and Av’s goalies are unconfirmed right now but I would assume we see Connor Hellebuyck and Semyon Varlamov in net for both teams. The players to keep an eye on tonight are the obvious ones for Colorado MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog as for Winnipeg it is Brandon Tanev who is coming off back to back games with a goal and Patrik Laine who is in a drought right now. These two have played three times already, the Jets have won 2 of the three. The Jets two wins were by a score of 5-2 and 7-4 as the Avalanche took the last game in Winnipeg not too long ago (Feb. 14) 4-1. Tonight I except the Jets to get back in the win column and win 4-2 tonight.

New York Islanders vs Calgary Flames:

The Islanders will have a great test in front of them tonight as they will put their Metropolitan division leading play to test vs one of the best Western Conference teams. The Islanders have yet to play the Flames this season therefore this will make for a fun match up as both teams are possession heavy teams with very skilled forwards and mobile defenseman. The Islanders goaltending (Lehner or Greiss TBD) will have the edge over Rittich or Smith tonight. If the Islanders can rally around their goaltending they can pick up a big road win here. The Flames are on a two-game win streak but 5-3-2 in their last ten as the Islanders are also on two-game win streak but 6-2-2 in their last ten. The Islanders road record is 17-10-2 as the Flames have a 18-5-5 home record this season. By the looks of it you can tell the Flames are not used to losing at home. The Islanders and Flames take relatively very few penalties therefore we can assume to not see a lot of special teams which will come down to 5 on 5 play a lot. I like the Flames in their own barn tonight.

Boston Bruins vs Vegas Golden Knights: NBCSN, 10:00PM

The Bruins are coming off a big road win in overtime vs the Sharks as the Golden Knights are coming off a bad loss to Colorado. The Bruins are on a six-game win streak, 8-0-2 in their last ten games as the Golden Knights are 3-7-0 in their last ten games. The Golden Knights at home are always tough though as they have a 17-9-3 record this season but the Bruins 14-10-5 road record will look to prevail. If we do see a lot of special teams this game the Bruins will have the advantage as their 2nd ranked power play (26.9) will be put to the test vs the 5th best penalty kill in the league (83.2), but the Golden Knights power play is clicking at 17.6 percent (20th) and Bruins penalty kill is ranked 16th (80.3). Tonight Jaroslav Halak draws in net for Boston who is 15-9-4 on the year with a 2.35 GAA but 2-1-2 with 9 goals against in his last five starts and coming off a shutout vs the Ducks. The Bruins took the first match up vs Vegas this season 4-1 but this time they are in Vegas. Marc Andre Fleury should draw in net for Vegas. Fleury is 29-18-4, a 2.61 GAA but 2-3 in his last five starts coming off three straight losses in which he allowed 4+ in those three games. The Bruins have the upper hand, coming off a big road win, gaining momentum heading into the rough part of the schedule and clicking on all cylinders. I am going Boston on the road.

Recap of picks:

  • Blackhawks
  • Jets
  • Flames
  • Bruins

Thursday Night Live In The Stands Gambling Corner Best NHL Picks

Ottawa Senators vs Detroit Red Wings

The Senators are a little under looked tonight, Detroit is 11-13-1 at home, coming into tonight off a win and 5-5-0 in their last ten. The Senators are equally as bad when they play on the road 7-18-1 with a 4-6-0 record in their last ten coming off a loss. Still even so, I like Ottawa tonight. The Red Wings took the last game they played 2-0 but Ottawa has edged them out two times already this season and I like the season series win for Ottawa here tonight. They won the first two meetings 2-1 in Ottawa and 4-2 in Detroit. The Senators are going with Anders Nilsson tonight who is 3-2 in his last five starts allowing 12 goals in that span. Red Wings go with Jimmy Howard (probable) who is 2-3 in his last five starts allowing 15 goals in that span. Although the Senators are not great right now, I like them vs a team they have been successful against in the past.

New York Islanders vs Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets are on a four-game win streak, gaining some traction in the Metro right now and 5-5-0 in their last ten games. They also have a 15-11-2 home record. As the Islanders are coming off an unexpected loss to Buffalo, 6-2-2 in their last ten and 16-10-2 on the road. The Islanders lead the Blue Jackets by five points, therefore a loss would not kill them but they only lead the Capitals by two points and the Capitals play a tough San Jose team which means perfect chance for the Islanders to gain a four point lead. The Islanders won the first game of the season series 3-2 and this is only the second of four meetings between the two. The Islanders are probably going with Thomas Greiss as Robin Lehner started last game. Greiss is 4-0-1 in his last five games allowing three goals in this five game span. The Blue Jackets go with Sergei Bobrovsky who is coming off a shutout win vs Washington but is 4-1 in his last five starts allowing 12 goals in that span. This is a very tough match up and call to make, I like the Islanders on the road for the sole reason it is a divisional rivalry, the Blue Jackets coming off a win and Islanders coming off a tough loss. Going Islanders.

Colorado Avalanche vs Winnipeg Jets

This seems like it is a shoe-in and the Avalanche are out before it started. The Jets are on a two-game win streak, 5-4-1 in their last ten and 21-6-3 at home. As the Avalanche look to be the old Avalanche we knew from a couple of seasons ago. They are on a 8-game skid, 1-6-3 in their last ten and 12-12-6 on the road. Versus one of the best home teams in the NHL it will be nearly impossible for the struggling Avalanche to come into this building and take a win. The Jets go with Connor Hellebuyck who is 3-1-1 in his last five games allowing 15 goals in that span. Varlamov is obviously winless in his last five games and has allowed 19 goals in his last five games and 3 of his last five losses have come in overtime. The Avalanche have a tough road ahead of them right now with Winnipeg, Vegas, Winnipeg, Chicago in their next five games. Going Winnipeg tonight.

New Jersey Devils vs Chicago Blackhawks

The Devils are full on fold mode. They are not making a run for the playoffs and are juts getting through the season. They are coming off a terrible loss to St. Louis, are 3-6-1 in their last ten and 7-18-3 on the road. The Blackhawks are coming off a tough loss to Boston but head back home. Where they are 12-10-6 but also are 7-3-0 in their last ten games. The Blackhawks are 5-2-3 in their last ten home games though and have been playing well at home recently. The Devils are 4-6-0 in their last ten road games. The Devils seem to be going with Corey Schneider in net as the Hawks go with Cam Ward. Schneider is 0-6-2 with a 4.12 goals against on the year, while Ward has won his last four starts allowing 9 goals in that span. Going Blackhawks tonight.

Vancouver Canucks vs Los Angeles Kings

The Canucks are coming off a tough loss to Anaheim where they got blanked by rookie goaltender Kevin Boyle. The Ducks snapped a 7-game skid vs the Canucks and that is not going to sit well for them tonight. The Canucks are 12-15-4 on the road, with a 4-5-1 record in their last ten. As the Kings come into this one off back to back losses and are 5-3-2 in their last ten games with a 12-13-1 record at home. The Canucks give their newly acquired goaltender Marek Mazanec the start. Mazanec has played in 25 NHL games with a 8-13-4 record, 2.98 goals against and .895 save percentage. The Kings go with Jonathan Quick who is 2-2-1 in his last five starts allowing 19 goals in that span and 5+ in his last two starts. Going Canucks here tonight, they want to be a playoff team and have any shot at contending a back to back game with the odds stacked against you. This is how you make the playoffs. Also except a good game from the new goaltender Mazanec who has been shuffled around the NHL his entire career.

Recap of picks:

  • Senators
  • Islanders
  • Jets
  • Blackhawks
  • Canucks

FREE NHL Picks: January 16, 2019

Colorado Avalanche vs Ottawa Senators

Things are getting a little better for Colorado at the moment, a big win vs Toronto was much needed for this team. A sure confidence boost, the Avalanche had success vs Toronto because their depth forwards had six points, Carl Soderberg had two goals, Matt Calvert had one, depth goes a long way. The Avalanche now head to Ottawa who are not playing well in their recent games (2-7-1) but also 11-9-4 at home. The Avalanche are 12-11-3 on the road and 2-6-2 in their last ten. They out match the Senators in most if not all areas of the game, goals, goals against, penalty kill, power play. The Avalanche are definitely favorited here and I’d expect a win out of them with how close the race in the Western Conference is right now. Every two points count. Colorado is -1.5 and -185 where Ottawa is +1.5 and +150, I’d go Colorado money line, puck spread too difficult to tell.

Buffalo Sabres vs Calgary Flames

Things are not getting easier for Buffalo at this point, they have been on a complete drought since their 10-game win streak. The Sabres are at the moment out of a wild card spot and slowly throwing their playoff hopes out the window. The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last ten on a three-game skid, 9-11-3 going up against a Calgary team who is on a five-game win streak, 8-1-1 in their last ten and 15-4-4 at home. I would be completely shocked if Buffalo win, if Buffalo wins this will also probably be the last picks article I write. I am going the house on Calgary tonight. Calgary is -1.5 and -240, Buffalo is +200 and +1.5. Calgary with David Rittich (not confirmed but likely) in net makes me feel better as well.

San Jose Sharks vs Arizona Coyotes

The Sharks have been rolling lately, defeating the Penguins 5-2 Tuesday night and on a seven-game win streak, 9-1-0 in their last ten but 11-9-3 on the road. Where as Arizona is 5-4-1 in their last ten coming off a loss and 8-12-2 at home. The Coyotes are no where near the Sharks skill level but they are also no easy match. They always give teams difficult games, while I like the Sharks here they are coming into this game on a back to back. From San Jose to Arizona is not crazy but it’s a back to back and teams do not perform well in these situations. I am still going San Jose but maybe not the puck spread, just San Jose straight up. Sharks are -155 and Coyotes are +135. Aaron Dell is in net for San Jose and Darcy Kuemper for Arizona (not confirmed).

Boston Bruins vs Philadelphia Flyers

The Bruins are coming into this game off an overtime loss to Montreal at the TD Garden, they need to get back in the win column as things are not easy in that Eastern Conference. The Flyers got a big game from James Van Reimsydk and Nolan Patrick vs Minnesota for their 7-4 win, don’t expect that again. The Bruins are 6-3-1 in their last ten and 10-9-4 on the road, where Philly is 2-7-1 in their last ten and 9-10-3 at home. The Bruins are my choice for tonight, one the road sure but the Flyers fans have given up on the team this year so it is not really much of a “home team advantage”. Bruins will handle the Flyers accordingly, I also could see them covering the puck spread. My risk of the night would be Bruins to cover -1.5 puck spread. They are -165 while Flyers are +135. Bruins all the way.

Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks

These teams are separated by zero points, the Oilers have one less game played but they both have 47 points. The Canucks with an even 21-21-5, Edmonton 22-21-3 very close in records and very close for a wild card spot. The Oilers are 4-6-0 in their last ten coming off a big win vs Buffalo the other night. Where Vancouver is 5-4-1 in their last ten coming off a big win vs Florida. The Canucks had two and a half days rest coming into todays game and the Oilers had a day and a half. The Oilers are 10-11-2 on the road vs Vancouver’s 10-9-2 home record. This game means a lot for both teams, as much as the Canucks did not anticipate on being here they still are going to do whatever they can to win. The Oilers are my team for tonight. They are also favored +1.5 goals to start both teams are -110 though. I am going Oilers and riding Mikko Koskinen in net.

Also note I have been on a losing streak myself with picks but feel pretty confident in every game tonight besides Colorado vs Ottawa. Minor set back to a big come back. 5-0 tonight let’s go.

FREE NHL PICKS: January 14, 2019

Colorado Avalanche vs Toronto Maple Leafs

There is probably very little chance the Avalanche win this game. They have dropped 7 of their last 10, on a three-game losing streak and the Leafs are getting Frederick Anderson back in net. The Leafs are also coming off a loss to the Bruins therefore on home ice I’d be shocked to see the Leafs lose. The Leafs are 13-9-1 on home ice and 6-4-0 in their last ten. The Avalanche have Philip Grubauer in net who has a 3.29 goals against, which means with the way things are going in Colorado this game could get out of hand fast. The Avalanche are +1.5 and +160 the Leafs are -1.5 and -190, I’d be confident enough to say Leafs to cover 1.5 spread.

Minnesota Wild vs Philadelphia Flyers

This could not be a worse game to bet on, both teams are so unpredictable right now but the Flyers are playing terrible. At home even the Flyers are still 8-10-3, also note that the Flyers have lost 7 of their last 10 and have been on a slippery slope since late November. The Wild who struggled greatly in recent games have found a way to win some games, they are 5-4-1 in their last ten and 11-11-0 on the road. The Flyers are going with Carter Hart, while he may be the only goalie the Flyers have to possibly steal a game, I don’t see the Wild winning this game. The Flyers are +1.5 and +100 while Minnesota is -1.5 and -120, the over/under is also six goals but both teams average around 2.7 goals per game. So either go under or Wild -120.

Montreal Canadiens vs Boston Bruins

Probably best game of the night, the Bruins and Canadiens always put on a great display. The Canadiens have been a major shock to many as they are three points behind the Bruins a win tonight would be big for Montreal. The Canadiens are a decent road team, 12-8-3 this season and also 6-4-0 in their last ten coming off a win vs Colorado. The Bruins are 16-6-0 at home and 7-3-0 in their last ten. The Bruins are coming off a win vs the Maple Leafs. Both teams score around 2.8 goals per game and while the Bruins allow 2.58 and Montreal allows 3.02 goals against this will still be a great, low-scoring game. The Canadiens are +1.5 and +170 while the Bruins are -1.5 and -205. I really could not be less confident in this pick but I really do like the Canadiens tonight.

Chicago Blackhawks vs New Jersey Devils

The Blackhawks and Devils are really not doing too well right now but the Blackhawks are on a three-game losing streak, while the Devils are coming off a win. The Blackhawks are 8-12-3 on the road and 4-3-3 in their last ten. While the Devils are 12-5-4 at home and 5-5-0 in their last ten games. The Devils really only play at home it seems like and the Blackhawks are not going to be an easy opponent just due to the Devils lack of fortunate play lately. The Blackhawks are +1.5 and +135 and the Devils are -1.5 and -155 therefore this game is favored to the Devils. For the sole reason the Devils are home I’d go New Jersey -155.

St. Louis Blues vs Washington Capitals

The Blues have actually won games recently that surprising and most of it is due to their goaltending rookie Jordan Binnington. The Blues are going back to Jake Allen it seems like tonight therefore all signs point to Washington. Either way I was saying Washington. The Capitals are 13-6-3 on the road and 6-2-2 in their last ten games. While the Blues are 8-7-2 at home and 6-4-0 in their last ten. The Capitals have Pheonix Copley going tonight but the Capitals back up has picked up four wins, a 1.93 goals against and .938 save percentage in his last month of play. The Blues are +1.5 and +160 while Capitals are -1.5 and -185, I like the Capitals to cover, going -1.5 Caps.

Buffalo Sabres vs Edmonton Oilers

The Sabres have slowly fallen out of the Atlantic division and seem like there only hope is the wild card at this point. They are 3-6-1 in their last ten games on a two-game skid and 9-10-3 on the road. The Oilers have only the wild card to fight for right now they sit two points out of a spot and these two points could be big time for the Oilers. The Oilers are 11-10-1 at home, 3-7-0 in their last ten. The Oilers are -1.5 and -120, the Sabres are +1.5 and +100, I’d say if possible, go Sabres +1.5 but I think the Oilers win this game.

NHL Picks: December 7th 2018

San Jose Sharks vs Dallas Stars

These two teams are neck and neck in terms of records. Luckily they fall in different divisions. The Stars are fourth in their division the Sharks are third. The Sharks come into this game on a two-game win streak but 4-4-2 in their last ten. As the Stars are on a three-game win streak and 6-3-1 in their last ten. It will be tough for San Jose to knock off Dallas at home where the Stars are 9-3-1 and San Jose is 5-7-3 on the road. We can probably expect very few or no power play goals from either team, as both teams penalty kills are top-5 kills and both teams average around 8.5 penalty minutes a game. As well the Stars defend very well allowing 2.57 goals against (2nd) and the Sharks should be better on the back end but do allow 3.03 a league average. The Sharks score a bit more 3.1 as the Stars only score 2.79 goals per game. The Stars struggle a tad with throwing pucks to the net if they can just shovel shots on net it will make this game easier for them. The Stars Ben Bishop and Sharks Martin Jones get the nod tonight. Both goalies are solid goaltenders so I don’t think we see a 4-3 or higher game. This game has 3-2 or 2-1 written all over it. With the Stars +120 and Sharks -140 it would draw a lot of people to go after the Stars, and it makes sense because I am doing the same. Stars for this one here.

St. Louis Blues vs Winnipeg Jets

I don’t think St. Louis has any shot really you can throw everything and the kitchen sink at this Winnipeg team they still won’t lose to St. Louis tonight. The Jets are at home, on a four-game winning streak, 6-3-1 in their last ten and 9-3-2 at home. The Blues are struggling greatly all year, on a two-game skid, 3-6-1 in their last ten and 3-6-2 on the road. The Blues allow 3.35 goals against vs a Jets offense that scores 3.44 goals per game calls for disaster. This game has potential to be a 5-2 game in Winnipeg’s favor. There is not really much to look at for this game. Especially with Jake Allen going for the Blues his 3.16 goals against does not look good vs Winnipeg plus this is the perfect game for Connor Hellebuyck to get some confidence going. The Jets are -225 and -1.5 puck spread that is +135, I would probably go puck spread here for Winnipeg.

Minnesota Wild vs Edmonton Oilers

The Wild’s Canadian swing ends tonight, they are 1-1 in their two Canadian games, they picked up their first loss 2-0 vs Calgary Thursday night and now they go back to back vs Edmonton. The Wild are 4-6-0 in their last ten and 7-7 on the road, they are struggling right now and have slowly fallen out of that Central division race. They will not be shutout once again on back to back nights but Mikko Koskinen in for Edmonton is a concern. The young goaltender has rode Cam Talbot out of net and he has done an unreal job this year. The Wild did play Alex Stalock Thursday night so Devan Dubnyk draws in the net for tonight. The Wild play a pretty quick game, transition well and try to use all four lines as effectively as possible. They score a decent amount and defend well same goes for Edmonton. The Oilers come into tonight off a win, 5-4-1 in their last ten and 7-4-1 at home. The Wild go home to stop bleeding hopefully after this, but they need a win and a big one. The Wild go home to Montreal, Calgary, Florida and San Jose not easy opponents. There is not puck spread out right now but the Wild are just +100 and the Oilers are -120. I like the Wild here tonight in a big game for Dubnyk and Wild’s offense.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Anaheim Ducks

Both teams are playing the opposite of each other right now. The Ducks are on a five-game win streak and Carolina a four-game losing streak. The Hurricanes go with Curtis Mcelhinney tonight and Ducks go with John Gibson. The Ducks are 7-1-2 in their last ten and 8-3-5 at home as the Hurricanes are 5-4-1 in their last ten and 5-7-1 on the road. Both teams score 2.4 goals per game and both teams allow 2.7 goals per game. The Ducks are just a better team right now, Canes are struggling on the road and I cannot seem them coming into tonight getting a win. I could see an overtime game honestly but the Ducks will come out with this one. The money line is Ducks -120 and Canes +100 the puck spread is Canes -1.5 (+245) and Ducks -1.5 (-300) I honestly can see the Canes keeping it to a one/two goal game. But Ducks for the win, maybe Canes for the puck spread…

NHL Picks; November 29th, 2018

New York Islanders vs Boston Bruins

Tonight as a whole consists of a lot of tough games and it starts with this one here. The Bruins are coming off a loss vs Toronto as the Islanders are also coming off a loss. Both teams are not playing all that well, the Bruins are banged up bad, the Islanders are slowing down too soon and both teams need wins bad. The Bruins are 5-3-2 in their last ten and 8-2-0 at home, as the Islanders are 6-6-0 on the road and 4-5-1 in their last ten. It seems Robin Lehner is getting the start for the Islanders, Lehner is 4-5-1, 3.00 GAA and .906 save percentage on the year vs Tuukka Rask who is 5-4-2 with a 2.72 GAA and .913 save percentage. The Islanders out perform the Bruins in the goals department and the offensive side as the Bruins allow one of the league’s best 2.46 goals against compared to the Islanders 2.91. The Islanders power play is struggling as the Bruins have a top-5 power play, key for the Islanders is to play smart and stay out of the box (both teams rank 28, 29 in penalty minutes per game..). I see this game being a relatively lower scoring game, going with a Bruins win.

Minnesota Wild vs Columbus Blue Jackets

The Wild are underdogs here, small under dogs per money line at +105 but that is a solid drawing point here. The Blue Jackets are 7-2-1 in their last ten and 6-4-1 at home as the Wild are 6-4-0 in their last ten and 6-5-0 on the road. Both starters draw in net tonight, both goalies are nearly neck and neck right now. Devan Dubynk is 9-6-2 with a 2.57 GAA, .916 save percentage vs Sergei Bobrovsky 9-7-0 record with a 2.74 GAA, .912 save percentage. Both goalies playing pretty well this season, Bob more so better in the recent weeks, Dubnyk has slowed down a little but this is seeming to be a 3-2 game. The Wild average 3.25 goals per game as Columbus (top-5) 3.5 goals for. Blue Jackets allow 3.21 vs the Wild’s (top-10) 2.61 goals against average. The Wild have a power play running at 22 percent as Blue Jackets power play is clicking at 16 percent. Wild have a much better penalty kill as Blue Jackets penalty kill is in the basement of the league. If both teams stay out of the box and this stays to 5 on 5, Blue Jackets at home should win. I like the Wild at +1.5 to start the game, but going Blue Jackets for the win tonight, money line.

Los Angeles Kings vs Edmonton Oilers

For some reason I feel a good game out of L.A. a big win vs Vancouver the other night, Jonathan Quick is back tonight and the Kings as bad as their record looks still have some time to pick it up. I think the Kings come out strong tonight and play well in front of Quick. If Quick is 100% healthy he will make the saves to help the Kings win this game. The Oilers coming off a big overtime win over Dallas are now .500, 3-6-1 in their last ten and 5-4-1 at home. The Kings are 4-6-0 in their last ten and 4-6-0 on the road. The Kings average 2.17 goals for (a league worst) as the Oilers average 2.71 goals for (27th) compared to the Kings 3.13 goals against (19th) vs the Oilers 3.17 goals against (20th). Two very similar teams, very sub par offenses, rely a lot on goaltending and when they want both can actually score 4 plus goals a game. With the Kings +130 and +1.5 to start, I don’t mind this line. I see the Kings winning this game in regulation and Quick playing well in his first game back.

Chicago Blackhawks vs Winnipeg Jets

Has to be a sure fire pick here tonight. The JEts are coming off a bad loss to Pittsburgh on home ice Tuesday night as the Blackhawks got shackled 8-3 vs Vegas Tuesday. Either way the Blackhawks are done, the Jets are not going to drop two at home, you’d be crazy to think they do. The Jets are 5-4-1 in their last ten and 8-3-2 on home ice as the Blackhawks are 3-5-2 in their last ten and 4-7-2 on the road. The Blackhawks average 2.72 vs the Jets 3.35 goals for, Blackhawks allow 3.56 goals against compared to the Jets 2.83 goals against. Clearly the Jets are favorited heavily here, but either way going Jets tonight.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Vancouver Canucks

Vegas is rolling now, four straight, things are starting to click a little and if they lose this game it could set them back a little. The Canucks are coming off a loss to the Kings Tuesday night. The Golden Knights are 6-4-0 in their last ten and 6-9-0 on the road vs the Canucks 1-7-2 in their last ten and 5-4-1 on home ice. The Golden Knights allow the least shots on net in the NHL as the Canucks only score 2.85 goals for a game. The Golden Knights average 2.92 goals for but also allow 2.77 goals against as the Canucks allow 3.48 (27th). The Golden Knights are coming in hot to this game as the Canucks can’t seem to do anything to get back in the win column and be consistent, a struggling team vs a confident team. Plus the Canucks won the last time these two met in October, so definitely going Golden Knights here. Golden Knights are -160 and -1.5 to start, either way with the Canucks under dogs at home going Knights.

Other games on tonight:

Rangers vs Senators: Not worth it.

Sabres vs Lightning: Definitely stay away.

NHL Picks; November 27th 2018

San Jose Sharks vs Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres coming into this game at nine in a row vs a San Jose team that is 4-5-2 in their last ten coming off a loss in their last game. The Sabres are 8-2-0 at home. The Sabres score a near 3.04 goals per game while the Sharks score 3.13 goals per game. The Sharks are in the middle of pack in terms of goals against with 3, as the Sabres an almost league best 2.75 goals per game. The Sabres are home here and for some reason the Sabres are +1.5 goal spread, and +105 as the Sharks are -125 it is essentially a push on the money line but the spread looks great, it does not pay out much but I could realistically see the Sabres winning 10 straight and then the magic runs out next game. Plus Carter Hutton in net gives me a little more confidence for Buffalo. Buffalo money line or spread.

Carolina Hurricanes vs Montreal Canadiens

This is another good game the Hurricanes are under dogs here as the Canadiens are home and favorites. It makes sense sure but the Hurricanes are no walk in the park. They are 5-4-1 in their last ten as the Canadiens are on a four-game skid and 3-4-3 in their last ten. Both are not great at home nor on the road. The Canadiens average around 3.08 goals for vs Carolina’s 2.7 goals and Hurricanes 2.83 goals allowed vs Montreal’s 3.38 a near league worst. Carey Price (7-6-4, 3.16 GAA) draws in net vs Curtis McElhinney (6-2, 2.25 GAA). The story line tonight is Shea Weber draws in the line up for the first time in what feels like forever, perhaps the veteran defenseman rallies the troops but with the Hurricanes +1.5 and -105 and the Canadiens -1.5 and -115, I like the Hurricanes spread or moneyline. Go Hurricanes.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers

A shaken up Edmonton bench, new head coach, team not producing that great already and things are looking to be going a little south in Edmonton. The Stars are a tough team to read they are hot and cold too often, they were off to a decent run last week and then slowed down in their last few games. They are coming off a lose and 4-5-1 in their last ten and 4-7-1 on the road. But the Oilers are not much better as they are 2-7-1 in their last ten and 4-4-1 on home ice and on a two-game skid. The Stars score around 2.83 goals for to an Edmonton 2.78 goals for as the Oilers allow 3.3 goals and Stars allow 2.75. Tonight Cam Talbot and Anton Khudobin both goalies have above a 3.00 goals against and .905 save percentage or lower. The over is a good possibility tonight but since it is six for some reason(two low scoring teams) I’d stick to money line or spread. The Stars are +1.5 and +115 as the Oilers are -135 and -1.5, the Oilers are not going to come into this game and win easy. Stars money line.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Chicago Blackhawks

The Golden Knights are starting to string together some wins now and have found themselves sprung into the number three seed in the Pacific with a bad Pacific division right now if the Knights keep this up they could easily find themselves in the playoffs once again. As the opposite goes for the Blackhawks they are in a tough Central division and in 6th place right now. They are 3-5-2 in their last ten and 5-3-3 on home ice Chicago, as the Golden Knights are 6-4-0 in their last ten and 5-9-0 on the road. They are on a three game win streak. The Blackhawks and Vegas score around the same amount of goals per game at 2.70 goals per game, the Hawks allow 3.38 goals and Vegas allows a near league low of 2.76 goals. I like the Blackhawks at +1.5 spread but the Golden Knights spread at -120, ultimately I think this is going to be a close game, down to the wire. Going Blackhawks spread here.

Los Angeles Kings vs Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are struggling greatly in their last ten with just two wins and a record of 2-7-1, they are 5-4-0 on home ice as the Kings are 4-6-0 in their last ten with a 3-6-0 on the road. The Kings are going wit Peter Budaj who is 0-1 with a 5.00 goals against on the year. The Kings score around a league worst of 2.17 goals for and allow a near league worst 3.22 as the Canucks score a league average of 2.92 goals for and allow a near league worst of 3.58 goals. This is going to be another tough game to read both teams are not the greatest nor playing well. Budaj in net gives me a little insurance that the Canucks could win it but Budaj can also play a great game. With the Kings -1.5 and -115 as the Canucks are +1.5 and -105, I’d probably go Canucks spread or money line, I think Canucks take this game either way.
