NHL Picks: November 26th 2018

Ottawa Senators vs New York Rangers

The Rangers are coming off loses vs the Capitals and the Flyers. They are 6-3-1 in their last ten and 9-4-0 at home. This the first time on the year the two will face off, last time the Senators and Rangers played was February 17th, 2018. The Senators are one a two-game skid, 4-5-1 in their last ten and 2-7-1 on the road. The Senators average around 3.61 goals for which is the 3rd most in the league while the Rangers score just 2.79 goals for the 23rd most in the league. The Senators do allow 4.35 goals against a league worst as the Rangers allow 3.08 goals against. The Senators have the worst penalty kill in the league as the Rangers have the 19th best power play (19.7 percent). This will be a game where Henrik Lundqvist gets back in net and Craig Anderson will attempt to bring his goals against down to a respectable rate(3.91). Tonight with the Rangers at home and -1.5 while the Senators are +1.5 struggle on the road, with a decent money line on the Rangers and over/under of six. I’d go money line Rangers.

Boston Bruins vs Toronto Maple Leafs

With the Bruins banged up and the Maple Leafs at home it seems like this is a no-brainer for many fans around the league. The Leafs are without Auston Matthews still but the Bruins are without four of their top defenseman, and Patrice Bergeron. In Patrick Marleau’s 1,600th career game the Leafs are going to come out buzzing. The Leafs are 7-5 on home ice and 7-3-0 in the last ten. The Bruins are on a two-game win streak and 6-2-2 in their last ten with a 5-4-4 away record. The Bruins average 2.83 goals for compared to Toronto’s 4 goals for a game. The Bruins allow 2.39 goals against vs Toronto’s 2.59 goals against. This is going to be a barn burner, two teams with a long history dating back to the 1900’s. These two meet four times a year and it always turns out to be a game to remember. The last time they played was earlier this month when the Bruins won 5-1. Toronto is -160 with a -1.5 spread, the over/under is 5.5, I’d probably say go Bruins money line. Spread will be tough and over is likely to hit also.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Detroit Red Wings

The last time these two played was October 30th where the Red Wings came out on top 5-3. This means the Blue Jackets will probably take this one on the road too. The Blue Jackets are 7-4-1 on the road and 6-2-2 in the last ten as the Red Wings are 6-3-1 in their last ten and 6-4-2 on home ice. Just based on how every point matters and the Blue Jackets want to stay in the top of the Metro I doubt they drop two games to Detroit this year. The Blue Jackets score 3.35 goals for (10th) and the Red Wings score 2.65 goal for (28th) as the Blue Jackets allow 3.13 goals against and the Red Wings allow 3.09 goals against. The Blue Jackets can clearly score the only way the Red Wings win here is if they score another 5 goals, I doubt we see Bobrovsky who has been playing much better and allow 5 goals up on his recent solid play. Tonight with the Blue Jackets -155 and -1.5 spread with a over/under of 5.5. I’d be fine with sticking money line again on the Jackets.

Washington Capitals vs New York Islanders

The Islanders and Capitals always make a great match up. This is the first of four matchups between the two. The last time these two played was last season March 16th. The Capitals are starting to string together some wins and gain some more confidence, as the Islanders are slowing down a bit. This could be a big confidence game for the Islanders. On the year the Islanders are 6-2-2 on home ice and also 5-4-1 in their last ten as the Capitals are 6-4-1 on the road and 7-3-0 in their last ten. The Capitals are on a five-game win streak and I think they keep rolling tonight. The Capitals average around 3.43 goals and allow 3.13 goals against as the Islanders allow 2.86 goals and score 3.18 goals for. Both teams can score and we will see a lot of goals tonight, I think the over is a great idea. Also the Capitals power play is 5th in the league as the Islanders penalty kill is middle of the pack. With the Capitals -110 and given 1.5 goals to start the spread is a great idea tonight. Capitals spread for sure.

New Jersey Devils vs Florida Panthers

Both teams are on a losing streak they need to snap out of and only one team can win here tonight. These two usually see each other two to three times a year and have played one time this season already where the Devils won 3-2. The Panthers are 8th in the Atlantic as the Devils are 8th in the Metropolitan division. The Devils are 3-5-2 in their last ten and 2-9-0 on the road averaging 2.95 goals for and allowing 3.27 goals against on the year. The Panthers are 3-3-2 on home ice and 5-4-1 in their last ten, dropping their last three games. The Panthers score around 3.24 goals for and allow 3.62 goals against behind the Senators for the league’s worst. James Reimer will hold the pipes tonight as Robert Luongo is out for now, Keith Kinkaid gets the nod once again as he begins to take over number one duties in New Jersey. With the Panthers -140 and -1.5 spread, I’d probably either stay away from this game or go Panthers money line. Don’t feel too hot about the over here tonight, but see the Panthers getting a win on home ice tonight.

Three team money line parlay:

  • Jackets, Leafs, Rangers (parlay option one)
  • Jackets, Leafs, Panthers (parlay option two)
  • Jackets, Leafs, Capitals (parlay option three)

NHL Picks; November 21st 2018 (ML, SP)

Dallas Stars+1.5 +160
Pittsburgh Penguins -1.5-185

This is one of the better bets out there tonight. The Penguins are struggling the Stars are actually playing really well. Casey DeSmith and Anton Khudobin are in net. I think looking at the Penguins last ten and the Stars last ten, the Stars are a solid team. Getting favored 2 goals is great. Slam it.

Chicago Blackhawks+1.5+125
Washington Capitals
-1.5-145

Capitals for sure tonight. Self explanatory.

Toronto Maple Leafs +1.5-120
Carolina Hurricanes
-1.5+100

The Hurricanes are not terrible but the Leafs are playing well lately. Favored 1.5 goals please do it.

Boston Bruins
-1.5-125
Detroit Red Wings+1.5+105

Not a great game to bet on tonight. But if you do go Bruins probably money line.

St. Louis Blues+1.5+165
Nashville Predators-1.5-190

Again not a great game to bet on either but Predators with the spread if anything.

Vegas Golden Knights-1.5-110
Arizona Coyotes+1.5-110

The Coyotes are favored two goals the Golden Knights are struggling and the Coyotes can easily win this game on top of being favored two goals is a blessing!

Winnipeg Jets+1.5-115
Calgary Flames -1.5-105

Jets favored two goals is a solid bet. I’d honestly go the spread and Jets to win the game all together.

Colorado Avalanche-1.5-135
Los Angeles Kings +1.5+115

I’d go Avalanche. Not a great game to bet on but the Avalanche will win tonight.

All picks are highlighted by the way.

NHL Picks Of The Night; November 19th

Blue Jackets(12-6-2) vs Maple Leafs(14-6-0)

The Blue Jackets are coming off a great week of play that has put in a great spot heading into this week. They have won three straight, are 6-2-2 in their last ten and coming into Toronto vs a team that just swept the West Coast and are also on a three game win streak. The Maple Leafs have been without Auston Matthews but still the Leafs are doing just fine. The Blue Jackets have seen a bright sign in the play of Cam Atkinson lately. This will be a very interesting game the Jackets can put up four plus and same for Toronto. The Maple Leafs average 3.5 goals per game vs Columbus’s 3.45 but the Leafs allow just 2.55 goals against vs Columbus’s 3.1. This is probably going to be a 3-2, 2-1 game. Have to stick with the home team going Leafs.

Stars(11-7-2) vs Rangers(10-8-2)

The Stars are heating up and this could be another game the Rangers upset a hot road team and continue to shock the league. Usually don’t like to talk about betting these games since I am a Rangers fan but the Stars are coming together here. The Stars top guys are finally getting together with the addition of some depth scorers the Stars are going to be a shocking team to many. The Rangers are coming off a big win Saturday night vs Florida and the Stars are on a two-game win streak, 6-2-2 in their last ten vs the Rangers 7-2-1 in their last ten. This is going to be another 3-2 type of game, hate to sa it but going with the Stars.

Sabres(12-6-2) vs Penguins(7-8-3)

We did not expect this, a turn of events. The Sabres are the wagon team here on a five-game win streak vs the Penguins three-game losing streak. The Penguins are 2-7-1 in their last ten and the Sabres are 6-2-2 in their last ten. The Penguins allow 3.28 goals against mainly due to Matt Murray being absolutely terrible he’s been pulled in two games in the last two weeks. Carter Hutton and the Sabres allow just 2.8 goals against, both teams do score around 3 goals per game. Penguins edge them in the goals for by a tad but the Penguins statistical are looking better than the Sabres. I’d be shocked, extremely jaw dropping to see the Penguins continue down this road and continue to lose. I am going with the Penguins here tonight.

Capitals(9-7-3) vs Canadiens(11-6-3)

The Capitals are not off to a great start and the Canadiens are off to an unbelievable start, so another shocking matchup. The Capitals are coming into this game off a win vs Colorado and 5-4-1 in their last ten. As the Canadiens are on a two-game win streak and 5-4-1 in their last ten. The Canadiens give Price the nod, Price has a 2.92 goals against and .904 save percentage vs Holtby’s 3.24 GAA and .900 save percentage. This is going to be an interesting game last time these two met was beginning of the month the Canadiens won 6-4 in Washington. This time it is in Montreal where the Habs are 6-3-1 and the Capitals are 4-4-1 on the road. Tonight, I am going road warrior, going Capitals.

Lightning(14-5-1) vs Predators(14-5-1)

Game of the night? Probably two teams with identical records, absolute power houses of the NHL going at it head to head. Comes at a bad time for Tampa Bay because of no Andrei Vasilevskiy so this could be a 6-5 game potentially. Either way going to be a very solid game and potential cup preview… Anyways the Lightning are 7-2-1 on the road on a two-game win streak as the Predators are 6-3-0 on home ice and 6-3-1 in their last ten. The Predators average around 3.35 vs the Lightning’s league leading 3.65 goals for. Lightning allow 2.9 goals against vs the Predators league leading 2.3 goals against. The last time these two met was in the beginning of the month where the Predators won and they come to home ice the Predators where they are usually good. This could be two for the Predators. I am going to go Preds here.

Golden Knights(9-11-1) vs Flames(11-8-1)

The Flames and Knights last met at the end of last season where the Flames won 7-1. The Flames are coming into this game 6-3-1 in their lats ten coming off a win and the Knights are 4-6-0 in their last ten coming off a win Sunday night. The Knights are going with Malcolm Subban and the Flames go with David Rittich who is 6-1-0 on the year with a 1.92 goals against and .933 save percentage. So basically he has been the number one this year and the Flames are 5-3-1 on home ice vs the Knights 4-8-0 road record. I am going with the Flames this game Knights back to back Subban in net, Rittich is playing well, Flames are a solid team. Feel the Flames tonight.

NHL PICKS OF THE NIGHT; NOVEMBER 16TH

Florida Panthers(7-6-3) vs New York Rangers(9-8-2)

The Panthers have been on a little bit of hot streak here, coming off five wins in their last six games as for the Rangers are coming off another loss to the Islanders. I say another cause the Rangers have lost the last 12 of 13 vs the Islanders. The Panthers since coming back to the U.S. from their Global Series trip have been clicking, Mike Hoffman extended his point streak to 14-games, Roberto Luongo has been looking like he is 25 again. I mean we all knew the Panthers could be a good team everyone was very high on them coming into the year. And again I like them here tonight. The Rangers have been a solid team this season, but I just see the Panthers capitalizing on their opportunities and jumping on the Rangers early. Going Panthers money line.

Detroit Red Wings(8-9-2) vs New Jersey Devils(8-8-1)

The Red Wings have been a different team from the first two weeks of the season, they have beat some solid teams and have won 7 of their last 10 games. In this span the Red Wings have scored 30 goals, when they win they score around 3-4 goals, they can easily be a team to take one from New Jersey. The Devils already lost to Detroit earlier in the season and are coming into this game on a two-game win streak. The Devils last ten they are 4-6-0, they have been a pretty inconsistent team this season. Before their last two wins they lost five of six. I see the Devils winning here though, can’t drop another bad game.

Tampa Bay Lightning(13-5-1) vs Philadelphia Flyers(9-9-1)

Tough break for the Flyers, they lost to the Devils Thursday night and the Lightning lost to the Sabres. Tough break, because the Flyers should probably do their best to take one on home ice but it won’t be happening here tonight. The Flyers are 5-4-0 in their last ten, dropped their last two games and are 4-6-0 on home ice. The Lightning coming off a tough loss to Buffalo a game they should have won will not let another slip from their fingers. With a struggling Flyers power play and Calvin Pickard in net, I see the Lightning taking this one tonight.

Buffalo Sabres(11-6-2) vs Minnesota Wild(12-5-2)

The Sabres have knocked off the Lightning and Jets in their last two games, are third in the Atlantic and on a 4-game winning streak. What you just read is all true. The Sabres are looking like a different Sabres team. The addition of Rasmus Dahlin has balanced out that backend, Jeff Skinner has been a great addition, Carter Hutton has given the Sabres some goal-tending consistency, Linus Ullmark has been a solid back up. But they head into Minnesota vs another great team, if the Sabres take this game chalk them up for the playoffs now. The Wild are 7-3-0 in their last ten, coming off a win vs Vancouver, 6-1-2 on home ice and have been a very solid team. This is another good test for the Sabres, but I think their magic wears off as they go in a back to back, from Winnipeg to Minnesota, tough travel schedule. Going Wild.

Montreal Canadiens(10-6-3) vs Vancouver Canucks(10-9-2)

And the Canucks are coming back down to earth, like we all imagined. They were way to hot, way to quick. They have lost four straight now, 4-4-2 in their last ten and now average just 3.05 goals per game while allowing 3.48 a league worst. The Canucks are coming off their most recent loss to Minnesota 6-2 and the Canadiens are coming off a win vs Calgary on the road. The Canadiens average around 3.21 goals for and 3.32 goals against. With Carey Price and Jacob Markstrom in net this could be a low scoring game. On home ice the Canucks are 5-2 as the Canadiens are 4-3-2 on the road. Going Vancouver tonight.

Columbus Blue Jackets(11-6-2) vs Carolina Hurricanes(8-7-3)

The Blue Jackets are a tough team to read this season, they are on/off every other week. A little inconsistent to start the year but they do have 11 wins so it seems to be working. The Blue Jackets are coming off a big win on home-ice, on a two game win streak and 6-2-2 in their last ten. As the Hurricanes are 4-4-2 in their last ten coming off a win vs Chicago. The Hurricanes have been a subpar team on home ice this season only winning 4 of their 9 home games as the Blue Jackets have won 6 of their 9 road games. Tonight I am feeling a solid game from Scott Darling and a Hurricanes win.

Edmonton Oilers(9-8-1) vs Calgary Flames(10-8-1)

And….. the Flames have cooled down. They have lost 4 of their last 9, on a two-game losing streak and come into tonight’s game with a 4-3-1 record on home ice. The Oilers are not much better they are 5-5 on the road and in their last ten, they did win their most recent game vs Montreal. But the Oilers as a whole have been a streaky team. They average just 2.89 goals for, allow 3.01 goals against, 19 percent power play, 74 percent penalty kill, they are the definition of average the Oilers. The Flames score around 3.05 and allow the same amount with a 18.5 percent power play and 77 percent penalty kill. Again average numbers. These teams are similar in a lot of areas, and they are both very middle of the pack talent level. Tonight I’d go home team in Calgary.

St. Louis Blues(7-7-3) vs San Jose Sharks(10-7-3)

The Blues cannot seem to get a streak going, they either win one, lose one, win one, lose one, etc, etc. They have been a back and forth team all season now and it has killed them. Their goaltending has been the biggest issue for them, asking Chad Johnson to step in for Jake Allen when Allen is struggling is tough. They are going Johnson to start the game tonight. They got a big win on the road vs Vegas Friday night but that also means they go back to back vs a team coming off a loss and needing a win. The Sharks are 5-4-1 in their last ten and 6-3-1 on home ice, they are also a team we expected a little more from this season. I see the Sharks taking this game, this game is going to be a little high scoring. Sharks either way though.

Other games on tonight:

  • Penguins vs Senators: Yeah, Penguins may want to start winning soon.
  • Bruins vs Coyotes: Back to back for the Bruins, from Dallas to Arizona (not bad) but the Coyotes are no walk in the park anymore. I like the Coyotes tonight.
  • Kings vs Predators: Yeah, Predators home ice. Kings are back to back also going from Chicago to Nashville.

NFL WEEK 11 PICKS OF THE WEEK

SOME SPREAD….

Dallas Cowboys vs Atlanta Falcons: Falcons to cover a three point spread in Atlanta, please give me it. I don’t care if the Cowboys won last week, the Falcons are an overlooked team right now and they will for sure win this game by 3+ points.

Tennessee Titans vs Indianapolis Colts: These two play each other two more times, one more in Tennessee and one now Indy. Both neck and neck in the standings and for the second wild card spot. I see the Colts taking care of business on home field after a big week ten win, the Colts will face a confident Tennessee team and cover a 1 point spread.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New York Giants: The Giants are home sure but the Buccaneers offense is going to have a field day with this team. Favored +1.5 to start the game, I like it a lot. Buccaneers will win this game upright anyways.

Betting the under is boring, if you don’t like making money!

The Buccaneers game as noted above I said take the spread but the under is a good choice here too, the over/under for me is 52 no shot in hell that hits the Giants can barely score 20 points on the 49ers, the Buccaneers will have their way with the Giants but they won’t score 50 points.

Oakland Raiders vs Arizona Cardinals: The over/under on this game is 41, the Raiders offense has trouble putting up 14 points, the Cardinals can arguably be capable of 20 here, either way I can’t see both teams putting up 21+ for the over to hit here. We saw the Cardinals put up 14 last week and the Raiders put up six. The Raiders average 16.3 points per game and Arizona averages 13.8, under, for sure.

Carolina Panthers vs Detroit Lions: I see this game starting out a little slow the first two quarters will not be all that eventful or filled with much offense. In a game the Lions are trying to get back in the win column they are going to be smart with the ball and do their best to slow the Panthers offense down. The over/under is 49.5, I can see this under hitting score being around 21-14 Panthers.

Life is too short to bet the under, go over!

Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears: I feel as if with two good defenses and two good offenses this will be a close one for sure, the Bears are battling to keep that #1 seed in the NFC North and the Vikings are a game out right now. This will be an intense back and forth game. With the over/under being 45, I think this will hit. Both teams just need to score 22+ each which is more than possible.

Houston Texans vs Washington Redskins: The over/under is only 43 the Texans are more than capable of putting up 30+ therefore the Redskins just need to score 13+, I see this game being a back and forth game for the most part. I think the Texans come out quick and jump on the Redskins, this game will be similar to when the Redskins played Atlanta two weeks ago.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars have not been great this year but their only chance to get a good win is this week, will they do it? Probably not but still the Jaguars are going to need to defend home field here and make it a game. The over/under is 47 it will come close for sure but the Steelers score 50+ last week and hit the over by themselves. We see the Steelers score 37+ and Jaguars 14+ very, very possible. I like this over as long as the Steelers do not rest any guys when the game is out of reach for the Jaguars.

NHL PICKS; BEST PICKS OF NOVEMBER 13TH

Pittsburgh Penguins(7-5-3) vs New Jersey Devils(6-8-1)

Two struggling clubs right now who would of thought at this point in the season these two teams would be where they are right now. The Penguins have slide to now 6th in Metropolitan division losing four of their last ten games. As the Devils are coming off a rough road trip having lost three-straight and now 8th in the Metropolitan division. The Penguins and Devils usually make for a great game, plus the Devils are home again, and I think they know how important getting out of the lose column is right now. They have Pittsburgh this week and still have Philadelphia, Detroit and Carolina upcoming, this could be a potential eight-game skid they don’t get going in the right direction. The Devils are good on home ice luckily picking up five of their six wins this season on home ice. Tonight I am going Devils with Keith Kinkaid in net and Casey DeSmith in the opposing net, going to be a low-scoring game.

Vancouver Canucks(10-7-2) vs New York Islanders(8-6-2)

The Islanders get a good test in the Canucks tonight, although the Canucks are coming into this game on a back to back and a Monday night loss to the Rangers. The Islanders are well rested last playing Saturday. The Islanders were on a hot streak until they have lost their last three games. Luckily they get Vancouver off a back to back which draws in Richard Bashman for his first start of the year. The Canucks have been a unexpected team this year they will for sure put up a good fight but I see the Islanders edging them here. The Islanders are also 3-1-2 on home ice vs Vancouver’s 5-5-2 road record. A hot Thomas Greiss, I like the Islanders tonight, money line as always.

Florida Panthers(6-5-3) vs Philadelphia Flyers(9-7-1)

The Flyers are getting a hot Florida team right now and a Florida offense that is clicking,  which means the Flyers offense will need to be on tonight. Also calls for probably the over hitting. The Panthers are on a four-game win streak coming off a beat down vs Ottawa Sunday night and having scored four plus goals in all four of their recent wins. The Flyers on the other hand are coming off a big win vs Chicago making that three in a row for Philadelphia. Two extremely hot teams that have both their offenses clicking at a great rate right now. They both average the same amount of goals per game (3.29) but the Flyers allow more goals per game on average, Panthers power play is clicking at 21 percent. going to be a high scoring game, either go the over or go Florida.

Tampa Bay Lightning(12-4-1) vs Buffalo Sabres(9-6-2)

The Lightning are heading into Buffalo as what many think will be an easy win for Tampa Bay, the 9-6-2 Sabres will have something to say about that. The Sabres are on a two-game win streak, 5-2-1 on home ice as the Lightning are coming off a loss vs Ottawa and 5-1-1 on the road. The Lightning are clear power houses in the NHL but it is early in the year where anything can happen. The Sabres are 6-2-2 in their last ten compared to the Lightning’s 7-3-0 record. For some odd reason I feel a Sabres win, I just sense a solid game from Buffalo they are moments away from winning 10 games through the first 18 games in nearly 10 years. This is going to be a better game than many think. Sabres, money line.

Washington Capitals(7-6-3) vs Minnesota Wild(11-4-2)

The Capitals a little Stanley Cup hungover? Who knows but they have not looked like the Capitals team we saw in April and June. They are one a two-game losing streak a loss away from being .500 and struggling on the road right now with a 2-3-2 record. As the Wild are the opposite on a three-game win streak, 5-0-2 at home and 8-2 in their last ten games as the Capitals are 4-4-2 in their last ten. The Wild have been solid on both sides of the puck they are scoring goals this season consistently, Devan Dubnyk is playing great, the Wild’s defense seems to be clicking as well. Everything seems to be going right for Minnesota and I will not playing with that mojo, going Wild tonight.

Montreal Canadiens(9-5-3) vs Edmonton Oilers(8-8-1)

The Canadiens are coming into Edmonton as the Oilers are on a four-game slide and 5-5-0 on their last ten games. Over the Oilers losing streak they have managed to allow 17 goals while only scoring 6 goals. The Canadiens on the other hand have managed to score 17 goals over their last four games. The Canadiens can seem to score goals this year for some reason and have been doing it at a pretty consistent rate. Tonight Carey Price goes for Montreal as Edmonton goes Mikko Koskinen who is 3-1 with a 2.64 GAA and .915 save percentage. This is going to be an interesting game as the Oilers are struggling and the Canadiens may not be playing great hockey but they are scoring goals and keeping games close. I would be surprised to see the Oilers drop five straight, going Oilers tonight, money line.

Nashville Predators(13-3-1) vs San Jose Sharks(9-6-3)

I feel like my unpopular opinion picks continue on with this one. I like the Sharks to be honest, they have played some good teams but this is a team they were ranked next to at the beginning of the year as the Predators are just storming through the league. This is a great test to see if San Jose is the real deal or has signs of being a Cup contending team. They have not shown many signs of consistency and Cup contending hockey this year so far but this is game where the Sharks can take and build some major confidence from. The Sharks coming into this game coming off a win vs Calgary and also winning three of their last four games. The Predators are not just a home team this year they are a road team as well as they are 8-0-1 on the road losing their only road game in a shootout vs Anaheim Monday night. Juuse Saros gets the nod tonight and Martin Jones for San Jose, I think this is a good test for San Jose they want to be the best have to beat the best. Going Sharks, over.

Other games on tonight;

Arizona vs Detroit: Please Arizona every time I go against you, you win. So I am going with you this time. Going Yotes.

Toronto vs Los Angeles: Going Toronto, that goalie situation in LA is rough.
