Ottawa Senators Actively Shopping Matt Duchene & Make Last Push To Sign Back Mark Stone

The Ottawa Senators cap concerns are here, and the Senators management need to deal with them as soon as possible. They have about a week to move either Duchene or Stone. And as reports form Pierre Lebrun report the Senators are most likely moving on from Duchene and trying to sign back Stone.

The news has been out regarding Duchene for nearly the full season we all knew he was on the move but we also thought their was a chance for him to re-sign in Ottawa. The Senators have now begun to really shop Duchene though. Some teams interested in him have been Winnipeg, Columbus, Nashville as of late. I would predict Duchene goes to a contender and a possible Stanley Cup team but as of now. Teams have just being inquiring about the superstar forward.

As far as Stone goes the news that the Senators are making one last big push for the forward is concerning. Stone seems like he wants to get paid and receive a long term deal therefore if the Senators are not offering that he is going to move on. What I do wonder is what the Senators offers have been that Stone has turned down? If Stone is on the fence between leaving and staying and has already been offered something an turned it down. I am a concerned Senators fans. The whole notion between “making one last push” clearly means that Stone is thinking about going elsewhere…

The Dallas Mavericks Won The Trade Deadline

No one expected the Dallas Mavericks to make a bunch of moves during the trade deadline. But Mark Cuban, Donnie Nelson, and the Dallas Mavericks organization were extremely active and made some blockbuster trades that have turned their franchise around.

Also to mention the trade that brought Luka Doncic to Dallas last June in the draft. This was a callback to the 1998 NBA Draft where the Mavericks traded Robert Traylor for Dirk Nowitzki.

Now Luka has emerged as the star of the Dallas Mavericks franchise. As each day goes by, the Mavericks are looking like geniuses for making that trade with Atlanta.

The Mavericks have taken big risks and were able to turn expiring contracts and aging players into a young core plus cap space to spend in free agency.

Dallas-Sacramento Trade Details:

Dallas Receives:
Justin Jackson
Zach Randolph

Sacramento Receives:
Harrison Barnes

The Mavericks are now able to sign a big-time free agent this summer. After the Porzingis deal, one of the concerning factors was Dallas’ cap space going into free agency. After getting rid of Harrison Barnes’ contract, the Mavericks are now in contention to sign at least one big time free agent with around $30 million in cap space.

Possible free agent targets being Nikola Vucevic, Demarcus Cousins or Klay Thompson. The Mavericks are a dark horse team to sign one of these guys. Now that they have a core of Luka and Kristaps, Dallas may be a more attractive destination for free agents.

The Mavericks showed that they are geared towards free agency and could care less about how the season plays out now. The future looks bright in Dallas but there is still more work to be done. It will interesting to see how the Mavericks play their cards this free agency.

Carmelo Anthony traded to the Chicago Bulls; will be waived after trade deadline

10x NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony was involved in a trade on today when the Houston Rockets traded him to the Chicago Bulls for cash consideration. Anthony was signed by the Rockets during the 2018 NBA offseason after being traded to and waived by the Atlanta Hawks

During his time with the Rockets this season, Melo only played 10 games with the team as he averaged 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game. The Rockets were looking to trade Anthony ever since signing Forward Kenneth Faried just a couple of days ago. The Houston Rockets made a similar deal with the Chicago Bulls last month when they traded away Michael Carter-Williams.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Anthony will not play a single game for the Bulls but they will wait until after the trade deadline on February 7th to release him.

Carmelo Anthony had been a 20+ point player since joining the league in 2003 but it all changed when he had been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder back in September of 2017. While teaming up with Russell Westbrook and Paul George, he had found himself not making any sort of impact as he averaged 16.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, and 1.3 apg with the Thunder. NBA fans across the world considered Melo as a “cancer” to any team that he joins in the league.

With being signed by the Rockets for this current season, Houston found themselves in a similar situation with Carmelo Anthony. This resolved the Rockets to bench him and wounding up trading him to the Bulls earlier today.

It’s been speculating that Lebron James wants Melo to join him in LA but  it seems to many that it might not be a good idea if Lebron wants to win a chip for the Los Angeles Lakers. Until being waived by the Bulls after the trade deadline, we will actually have to see if any team is willing to sign him for the remainder of the 2018-19 NBA season.
